WBB to play "Crossover at Kinnick" on October 15th!

Better be giving tickets away for free then.
Why? When they did grapple on the gridiron, they had 42,000 people in Kinnick. Thats almost 4 times what Carver holds for a match. With popularity of the womens team, (Clark) right now, I could see them bringing in 30,000 which would break the record. Tickets are only $10. The rain out tickets are $20 which will get you in carver if they have to move inside, and can only sell 15K.

Because it’s still women’s basketball…sloppy and unsatisfying but with a three-point shooter that lacks any resemblance of defense 80% of the time.

I know the sports media personalities are REALLY pulling for increased interest in the game, but, I just don’t see the appeal.

Obviously my own personal outlook and I don’t judge you if you’re on the women’s bball bandwagon.

Love myself some Gabbie Marshall tho, for sure.

While I agree it is still women’s basketball. I have no doubt in my mind that they will break the record. I work at the university and a ton of people have already been talking about this and checking in to see when tickets go on sale.

Why not enjoy a once in a lifetime opportunity to watch one of the best to ever play the game. Even if it is women’s basketball.

Because the “once in a lifetime opportunity” of attending a women’s college basketball game in kinnick stadium isn’t on my totem pole of life interests.

And Clark will go on the play in the WNBA, which of course is unbearable to watch.

You fail to grasp that you do not speak for anyone else. You saying “no thanks” does not mean others will say “no thanks.” You originally posted “they better give them away for free” and when pressed, said “I don’t see the appeal.”

Fine, but others do — maybe you didn’t pay attention but Iowa WBB set multiple viewership and attendance records last year. No one is forcing you to care or buy tickets, and no one is forcing you to shit on our student athletes. Iowa and Iowa Wbb have enough haters out there, we don’t need more here.

So please shut your whiny little trap. “WBB is boring” is so tired and it reeks of small d*** energy. Please stop remarking on Gabbie Marshall’s looks while you’re at it. Unless you’d like me to start commenting on which men’s players are the hottest.

This event is awesome. Bring even more buzz to Iowa women's basketball.

I didn’t say anything about Gabbie’s looks. You made that assumption, right? She plays with intensity on both ends of the court..I enjoy her style and effort.

Secondly, why would I care if you commented on a male player being attractive? I wouldn’t. It would make zero sense to get defensive about something like that.

Lastly - see post #8. I made it clear I’m not speaking for anyone but myself.

Got it, Sensitive Sally?

OK, then why are you here? Like we get it dude. But this is a big deal for the women's program, just like it was for Men's Wrestling. Fans are going to show up in droves to support Caitlin and the team at Kinnick.

This is pretty genious for once by the marketing department, when has this been done for any basketball?? Going to be really cool and fan's will turnout bigtime

Sometimes it's better to just shut the **** up and allow people to be excited about something.

Caitlin Clark Effect™

Iowa welcomed an average of 11,143 fans into Carver-Hawkeye Arena for 2022-23 home games, good for second nationally. Iowa welcomed 200,569 fans to home games this season
The Hawkeyes drew nearly 3,000 more fans per game than they did during the 2021-22 season. That year, Iowa's average attendance was 8,224 per game, good for 5th nationally in attendance.
In 2019-20, Iowa averaged 7,102 fans, tenth nationally and in 2018-19, an average of 6,797 went through the doors at Carver-Hawkeye Arena, the ninth-highest average attendance nationally.
This past season (2022-23), Iowa played in front of over 13,000 fans 11 times. That's more than any other team in the nation.

The publicity around this event, if done right, could elevate WBB and Iowa WBB in particular. It’s bold. I don’t think any other B10 program has sufficient interest or support to try to pull off an event like this. Great advertisement to prospective future recruits too.

Comparing this to the dual is apples and oranges. Wrestling had 2 historic blue bloods wrestling a regular season dual on a football weekend. This is a scrimmage when the football team is on the road that weekend. The CC effect will have an effect. But not like playing before a football game would.

I'm guessing putting in the hardwood and removing it in one day would be a lot harder then rolling the wrestling mats would be.

Curious how this scrimmage will turn out to be. Will they play it like a regular game? Can Iowa substitute Tania Davis in? Just kidding.

Great Job Reaction GIF

Do preseason scrimmages count toward season attendance? If so, this could put Iowa in position to beat Tennessee's attendance record (season average).

Interesting that you would know how she plays since… you know, she plays women’s basketball…..

While I understand part of what you are saying about women's basketball in general, this Iowa team is entertaining and a fun watch. You just have to put aside the thought that dunks make the game better. The men's game turns the ball over too much as well. You're just accustomed to it because it's done more "athletically."

I just got my tickets as a football ticket holder...WOW...they are going quick! There wasn't anything left really but singles down near the court, I'm 60 rows up...and I don't believe it's even open to the public yet. And everytime I picked seats they were taken by the time I clicked add to cart.

They're going to break whatever record they're going for and then some I think.

Per ticket office person they sold 9000 tickets in the first hour.

I would believe it...if anyone was questioning if Hawk fans would flock to this, I assure you...that concern has been soundly put to bed. You're going to see a turnout that at least matches the Grapple on the gridiron match.

I’m guessing Iowa sold a lot to the third party vendors. There are barely any decent seats.
