We aren't talking about China enough.

Our worlds economy is getting its ass kicked 2 years later, school children have shown serious negative impact, thousands if not tens of thousands of small businesses were lost, people passed away and were not even able to be with loved ones, people had babies and were not able to have loved ones there, we weakened the shit out of our immune systems and are now dealing with the fall out from that, but yea dude.... it was the mask people cared about.
“Did you have to wear a maskkk?” It’s how they hide malfeasance. They make slogans and catch phrases like “but her emails” , and “big deal, he smoked crack” while ignoring the actual substance.

Sorry, but theres been a labor shortage going on 3 years now. If you lost your savings because you couldn’t find work, you weren’t/aren’t looking.

Umm. Where’s the porn bro?
Apparently they're keeping it to themselves.

Secret CIA Files Say Staffers Committed Sex Crimes Involving Children

Declassified CIA inspector general reports show a pattern of abuse and a repeated decision by federal prosecutors not to hold agency personnel accountable.
Over the past 14 years, the Central Intelligence Agency has secretly amassed credible evidence that at least 10 of its employees and contractors committed sexual crimes involving children.
Though most of these cases were referred to US attorneys for prosecution, only one of the individuals was ever charged with a crime. Prosecutors sent the rest of the cases back to the CIA to handle internally, meaning few faced any consequences beyond the possible loss of their jobs and security clearances. That marks a striking deviation from how sex crimes involving children have been handled at other federal agencies such as the Department of Homeland Security and the Drug Enforcement Administration. CIA insiders say the agency resists prosecution of its staff for fear the cases will reveal state secrets.
The revelations are contained in hundreds of internal agency reports obtained by BuzzFeed News through Freedom of Information Act lawsuits.
One employee had sexual contact with a 2-year-old and a 6-year-old. He was fired. A second employee purchased three sexually explicit videos of young girls, filmed by their mothers. He resigned. A third employee estimated that he had viewed up to 1,400 sexually abusive images of children while on agency assignments. The records do not say what action, if any, the CIA took against him. A contractor who arranged for sex with an undercover FBI agent posing as a child had his contract revoked.
Only one of the individuals cited in these documents was charged with a crime. In that case, as in the only previously known case of a CIA staffer being charged with child sexual crimes, the employee was also under investigation for mishandling classified material.

Well I’m glad things are simple in your world. Hopefully those Amazon employees that just got laid off find a job that pays as much with benefits. Maybe they can learn to drywall.

But they didn’t kill grandma. Even though they probably wouldn’t have anyways.

And they got checks to help them through the gap. Something that people like you fought tooth and nail to prevent. And now, of course, you want to blame the people supporting these things with your problems. Next time, maybe you'll be part of the solution and not part of the problem so the programs designed to help people through tough times can actually be applied. Oh, and keep the oversight on the funds, it might keep a trillion dollars or whatever it was from just disappearing.

You seem to forget about the million people that have lost their lives to Covid (and still counting). This would have been much higher if there hadn't been mask wearing, social distancing, and other measures in place. You also forget about the thousands who are still suffering from long-term effects from Covid. The main industries affected were restaurant and retail. Many businesses were not affected during Covid and quite a few did better than normal.

But "we" (the government) interfered with God's natural order kc! Fewer masks and MORE guns is what "we the people" need..........and a tax cut, of course.

What was it, like $3000 total over a few months and then nothing? You are right, giving a small fraction of the bailout to the actual taxpayer was something I was vehemently against. Shouldn’t have shut down the economy then there wouldn’t be a need.

Lots of people make a real nice living with our currrent oversight. Just ask the fat cats profiting off Ukraine funding.

Right. So you make choices to be against policies, you are told what the consequences of those decisions will be, then when you are successful at preventing the appropriate policies in place to mitigate the circumstances as much as possible you then turn around and blame the resulting bad consequences on the people who were trying to pass policies to prevent those exact things from happening. That's Republican "governing" 101 right there.

But I want to do stuff and maybe work from home or only when I feel like it.

We have had all of the above quit at my employer.

One well paid computer person said “I just can’t work at a place where there is set hours”. He quit after a few months. Sorry dude, it’s a factory and we need you here when make stuff.

If you don’t have a job in this economy it’s pretty much 100% your fault. Either self centered or hopelessly unemployable because of drugs or laziness.

Team Covid doesn't like to admit these things because it would mean they would have to admit they were wrong the entire time. Don't kid yourself there were many on here that would have loved to follow China's Zero Covid policy if that's the approach our federal government took. Luckily federalism saved the day and states were able to create their own Covid plans.

You do realize that government mandated mitigation did very little to stop the spread of Covid right?

No, I supported a stand alone bill that went 100% towards relief checks. Not PPP bailouts for their buddies and other bullsh*t. I’m sure when you heard of Matt Gaetz getting a PPP loan you felt the same way.

There was a media driven fear that pushed for lockdowns. A science based approach would have had no standing for implementing lockdowns. Fauci based his recommendations on the opinion of one guy, Clifford Lane, who he sent to the CCP to see how a dictator handled covid. I hope there are some actual serious investigations into Covid origins. The guy funding the lab where it most likely escaped was leading the country’s response to his creation. We have seen the emails, we have heard the depositions. Seems if we want to hold someone responsible for all the death that happened since this started we should start with him.

I know I went off on a tangent but we should really expect better from our leaders. If it turns out that Fauci was funding the research in Wuhan, the leak came from that lab, and he was making money off the vaccine then he needs to be held accountable. I know it’ll never happen because half the country will never go along with it but it’s nice to dream.

JFC. Conspiracy theories are not evidence and if any of this were true people would be in jail already. I'm not even going to bother addressing that.

Now, I didn't like the PPP system either, at least not the way it ended up being implemented. The only reason that existed the way it did was because Republicans wanted it that way and Donald Trump just line item vetoed the oversight on it and everyone pretty much just shrugged their shoulders and went "Oh well". What should have happened is that should have immediately triggered a lawsuit. That didn't happen though because that would have prevented money from getting to the businesses that needed it. Manchin did exactly what I expected him to do once nobody was looking over his shoulder to see exactly what was happening and roughly $80 billion disappeared with no knowledge of where it went. That was a republican caused problem (well, mainly Trump because even the Congresspeople voted for oversight) that would have worked as intended if the people who were set out to oversee the money would have been allowed to do their job.

Yeah, it’s always the Republicans. Democrats are never to blame, even when they have control. Most of them are all on the same team wether formally or informally.

Why would anyone be in jail? Sam Bankman Fried committed fraud in the billions but is making an apology tour because he donated to the right people. Fauci will never be touched because he agrees with the right people.

Which part is a conspiracy theory? You could say profiting off vaccine but it’s not like Fauci doesn’t hold significant investments and make money from patents. The guy made $5M during the pandemic. I would say he’s profited off the pandemic quite nicely. Did he not fund the wuhan lab? Didn’t think that was disputed. Were they doing experiments with covid in that lab? Don’t think that is disputed either.

I think mu-shu is an underrated Chinese dish.

People rarely order it, but if you think about it, it is Asia's answer to the burrito.

A little mu-shu pork with duck sauce is delish.

Just because a few data points might be true doesn't mean it's not a conspiracy theory. In fact, that's exactly how conspiracy theories work. You have a few data points that you then fill the gaps in with wild fantasies, like that Fauci is somehow responsible for engineering and then releasing the Covid virus in China so he can make a bunch of money, which seems to be the conspiracy theory you are hinging on right here. It's ridiculous and not something worth debating.

The funny thing about your post is how loudly you screamed against states/cities that formulated their own Covid plans that didn't conform to Team Red's devotion to Donald Trump.

Only problem with this presentation of events is that the US President doesn’t have line item veto power.
Otherwise, csb.

Trump was awful with Covid. He basically gave cover to the states and cities that locked people down. He even advocated for it.

Thank you for identifying my point. I knew I couldn't slip that one past ya. The President doesn't have line item veto power, but he did it anyway and nobody did anything about it.

I never said he released the virus so he could make money. That was you just now.

I am saying this guy has a lot of gall leading us when it may have been his fault to begin with. He has too many conflicting interests to be the one we listen to.

Why go to Reddit when I can get replies like “Your comment speaks for itself” right here?

Fauci has his hands in funding the lab and has his hands in developing vaccines and treatments. It’s not a good look optically. Like Katie Hobbs or Brian Kemp being in charge of elections while running for governor. Not to mention all the lies, backpedaling and moving of goalposts.

Ahh, the trusty gif. You must have nothing, I’m willing to bet that deep down you feel the same way as I do. That feeling that you bought into a narrative brought to you by Pfizer and willingly scolded those around you who didn’t go along with it. It happens. I remember shitting on people who didn’t go along with the WMD narrative of Iraq. Wish I could take that back.

BEIJING (AP) — Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang warned Tuesday that Beijing and Washington are headed for “conflict and confrontation” if the U.S. doesn’t change course, striking a combative tone at a moment when relations between the rivals are at a historic low.

In his first news conference since taking office late last year, Qin’s harsh language appeared to defy predictions that China might abandon its aggressive “wolf warrior” diplomacy in favor of more moderate rhetoric as the two countries face off over trade and technology, Taiwan, human rights and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Washington’s China policy has “entirely deviated from the rational and sound track,” Qin told journalists on the sidelines of the annual meeting of China’s rubber-stamp legislature, when leaders lay out their economic and political priorities for the coming year.

“If the United States does not hit the brake, but continues to speed down the wrong path, no amount of guardrails can prevent derailing and there surely will be conflict and confrontation,” said Qin, whose new position is junior to the Communist Party’s senior foreign policy official, Wang Yi. “Such competition is a reckless gamble, with the stakes being the fundamental interests of the two peoples and even the future of humani
ty.”
