Not going to cut it for a top 5 team on the road against decent teams. Scholarship bench was completely awful.

Freshman wall? Sloppy big game on the road off the bench. Lots of fouls defensive mistakes, no shot confidence. The four shot no point possession
changed mo.

I don't know what the deal is with this team, but they go brain dead at critical junctures of games. Multiple chances to get up 5-7 and they go several possessions with no baskets and awful shots. Agree with others that Fran not using timeouts is hard to figure. Call a TO, run something and at least get a clean look vs. these forced late shot clock hail mary shots.

But he shot a weak wide open three w/ zero chance to go in. Think it was his only shot of the game. But his defense appeared better than the rest of the bench.
Yeah it was an ugly shot, but he at least provided useful minutes. Wagner fouled a bunch, Brady had a turnover or two, and Uhl was practically invisible. Baer at least got a hand in on a few passes and disrupted them and in general seemed to play with solid effort.

I still think we're probably pretty good this year. Rough night for the bench. Don't know why Fran wanted to play 2-3 for the entire first half. I still have faith in this team. I confess that I, sometimes, am embarrassed by our fans. I wish less of them would try their best to prove douchebag ISU ppl right about the "Tavern Hok" thing. Sometimes you lose and the sky isn't falling.

The bench could have played better. Mainly by shooting better. They could have gotten better calls, for certain. But they got good minutes that will hopefully help us down the road. Not only next year, but this year.

That said, it was the starters game. They played the minutes that mattered, and they lost it. We could have looked better. Still happy with this team.

I would say 3 (as usual)...Uthoff, Jok and Woodbury.

And yet the two starters you didn't name both outplayed Mr. Wonderful Yogi. Without intentional foul free throws at the end he doesn't score 10 points and he only had two assists.

Have anyone watched college basketball this year. Look at all the upsets across the country on a weekly basis. Yeah we lost, we probably could have won, but this wasn't a bad loss. Indiana just had a bad loss against Penn State and their backs were against the wall. The crowd was crazy and Indiana made every open 3 and every free throw. Iowa got down 16 in a hostile environment and managed to climb all the way back. Made some mistakes down the stretch that nobody likes but don't disregard all the good plays. We will beat IU the next time in Carver, probably by double digits.

One of those nights, poor FT shooting and rebounding. We do one of those things well we win the game. I do think IU played with more fire in the first half, being at home probably had something to do with that. We need to take care of business and we can still achieve the Big Ten Crown.

The rebounding was critical. Both teams wound up with 19 offensive rebounds but Indiana more often scored off theirs. We had 3 offensive rebounds on one possession and never did score on it. FT shooting really hurt as well.

Don't be posting reasonable thoughts like this. Don't you know it's supposed to be all doom and gloom posts after a loss?
