Reminder that these are kind of summary answers and not a transcript.

KOK says he is excited about the opportunity this week. Said Purdue's defense has been good and you don't really see a lot of weaknesses.

Q: Asked about the progress being made by Petras? What strides has he made?

Said it's a combo of things. Said he wants him to be focused on the important things and improve every week. Said that has happened with the whole team. Said he has worked on the fundamentals and then execution improves. Said they are focused on the opponent and they have to bring intensity in practice.

Q: Growing Petras as a leader?

He is always preparing for whatever the next step will be. He buys into what we talk about and what's important. He is great in not losing focus and looking at the unimportant things. He said what is important is what we do at practice and in drills. He leads by example on the team.

Q: Spencer said that in addition to development it's also the off the field stuff that you help him with. How do you do that?

It's not any different than any other position. Have to not let the big moments become big moments in your head. When those moments show up you play to the level of training. He is always asking questions and we add detail to help him understand so he can deliver that to the rest of the team. He sets a great example and he is a great communicator.

Q: Asked about how many reps with the 1's that Padilla gets every week?

Has to be just as prepared as a starter, as does the guy behind him. They are all preparing the same way. They all spend the same amount of time in the meeting rooms. Wants him to take a step forward each week.

Q: Asked about the receivers and QB's working together. Discuss the two true freshman receivers and how Spencer helped them?

Said Brian Ferentz and Kelton helped develop a plan with both those guys this spring and brought them along. He said they communicate very well, almost like experienced players, with the quarterbacks and it's fun to watch.

Q: Is there an area where you want to see Spencer improve?

Of course. Everywhere. He can get better at everything. Not one area in particular.

Q: Asked about Labas and Hogan and how they are developing?

Right now those guys are, especially Joey, doesn't factor into anything. He runs the scout team now. Hogan is with us offensively. He gets the fewest reps of anyone, but we try and find spots so he can get some work in. He probably has to do more mental reps and he might spend more time with the receivers who are not going to get as many reps

Q: What have you seen from Padilla?

See him more in practice. He is working hard and making a lot of progress.

Q: On the bye week and if the backups get more work?

No idea yet. Haven't had that schedule presented yet. Will know when it gets there.

That it from KOK. Disappointed he didn't give us a dad joke today. :)
