Weird Helmets

Down right ugly! They are hideous to see on TV. Can't imagine being a player having to look at those for 4 quarters.
The state of Maryland is very proud of it's flag, and they should be. It is by far the best looking, and because they paste it on everything very recognizable. The Orioles and the Ravens also have it on their uniforms. However, the University of Maryland has found a way to make it look ridiculous by making their helmet a cluttered mess. The top of half of the helmet is covered in a giant flag with "Maryland" written across the lower half..... yuck.
If they had a solid color helmet, and a flag of normal logo size above the ear, then it would look great. With thier state flag they have so much potential to have great uniforms, but they have over done it to the point of absurdity.

I like Maryland's helmets, generally. They are distinctive, and they tie in with the state's imagery.
But they need to lose the word "Maryland" across the back. That looks dumb. You never put your team name on your helmet. (Unless you are UCLA).

The Maryland across the back tilts it from "meh" to "ahh" for me.
Those helmets are ghastly (appropriate for Halloween, I suppose). Honestly, I got a headache every time they zoomed in on one of the Maryland players. The design is WAY too busy, looks like someone puked multicolored cubes and triangles all over them. Bush league helmets, belong on an FCS team, not a respectable B1G college. Imagine someone wearing a sweater that looked like that. Even the sweaters Cliff Huxtable (that's Bill Cosby for younguns) wore looked respectable in comparison.
