Well it seems we have enough wing players going forward

I like the idea of being long and athletic, and the bulk of the roster resides at 6'6"-6'8" athletes. I don't know what the skill level is of most of these guys but it wouldn't surprise me if based on the level of athlete Iowa has littered the roster with that we play even faster next year and going forward.

I think Fran's ideal roster might actually be on the way. We're gonna play loose and fast, get up and down, press... get up into guys defensively.

I think there is a chance for next year to be really interesting.

It will definitely interesting but experience has taught me that age and experience (especially at guard) wins over youth and energy. I like the potential of our young talent.

I think the Hawks will have a lot of peaks and valleys next year.

Age and experience are huge. That is why I never believed Iowa to be a bubble team this year. Two starting guards(three if you count Jok) and two bigs can win you a lot of games. As they proved to be the 2nd most winning class in Hawkeye history. But they also proved that experience does not always mean you can handle pressure. That's more instinct, apparently.

But on to a new era... This is definitely the type of team that Fran has wanted from day one, sans the elite PG he has tried very hard to pull in. Lots of tall, long, and athletic ball handlers. And he has a lot of them. Jok, Moss, Baer, Uhl, Jones, Wagner, Hutton, Fleming, and Williams are all long and can handle the ball at least average to above average, especially for the size. Moss & Hutton are only witnessed from PTL and the word on the street, but they can dribble, drive, and pass decently enough for freshmen.

Obviously there is more than just being able to handle the ball in one way or the other, but that's a lot of guys that fit that mold. Plus 3 out of 4 recruits are along the same lines. Toss in a Bohannon, and One would think Fran is up to something... and hope that it is good. I am betting on it. And I ain't a gambling man.

That said, are we completely void of experience? In-game, mostly yes. That happens with four starting seniors. However, we have 10 guys that will have been on the roster, in the program receiving coaching experience, and playing - together - for a year & a half come tipoff next seson. That is not a bunch of true freshman running around out there. Will it be enough? By mid-season I believe it to be so. Time will provide the answer... But I will tell you this, I am looking forward to watching these guys run already!

That's why i think next year you will see Iowa win a lot of home games and will most likely struggle on the road. This current group of seniors were battle tested and had played in every arena in the Big Ten (except Rutgers & maryland). But anyways they had been through everything so they were ready and it showed that they could win some "tough" games and also lose some "easy" games.

I think we have enough "wing" players, now we need a good PG. I know I am beating a dead horse, but with those wing players and our athletic post players, if we can get a good PG to run the offense and attack, that would open up so many options. Fran has to try the transfer market or find a late bloomer in the class of 2016 or JUCO.

Except at Iowa where 4 year guards continuously get out performed by under class foes. Yeah, I will take my chances with youth and energy over our pathetic guard play over last 4 years.

We will find out in the next week or so, if a transfer is an option... That's when the individual meetings take place. And coach let's them know what lies in the future. They'll either get the Sapp bust your tail and you play story, or the bench is yours story. We have read Fran is real straight up with his players. So we will know soon...

I think you are right on the home and away games. That is a good point. The nerves on the road can knock a young team down quickly,

The schedule will be our friend or our enemy. Part we control, part we do not. Fran needs to keep away from the top 50-100 teams, and play the 125-190 RPI teams. With a couple lower ones to start. A late non-conference tournament where these guys are locked away for 6 days would help with experience too. You get knocked down, but wake up the next day and go right at it...

The B1G is going to hold the cards on where we land for our post season. If we get our schedule of this year, we are doomed. If we get an IU schedule, then we will have a shot, in my opinion.

It's too bad we're not eligible for a foreign trip. A young team like this could really benefit from it.
