Well some good news to report

I feel like Fran is always a player away from a lot more success. Probably easy to say for many basketball coaches but just a sprinkle more of elite athleticism and defense would do wonders.
I would like to see a McCaffery-built team where the PG is the best player on the team. There’s an argument to be made that Dev Marble was that guy in 2014, but his teammates were young/not great.

But even Marble... put him on this team. With his ability to get to/finish at the rim in either halfcourt offense or in transition while defending his position, along with shooters like Bohannon, Wieskamp, Moss, and an athletic big like Cook. This is a top two or three team in the Big Ten

Frans teams have always been missing that tough PG. I think Joe T is the straw that will stir the drink for the future. I hope Fran lets him play early.

Fran has always had shooters and stretch bigs. All he needed was a lock down PG for defender and a PG who could attack and make defenses collapse. We have not had that type of player at Iowa under Fran.

He’s 6’6 now and his HS coach who I know personally thinks he ends up 6’8-6’9. His team this year was truly brutal. Christie was regularly face guarded all the way down the floor in addition to an immediate double team when he gets the ball. One team ran a triangle and 2 with the 2 guys focused solely in Christie....I believe ESPN has him up to #8 or # 9 in class of 2021 rankings.

I think Fran already has that guy.

But another wouldn’t hurt.

Maybe he can join Fran and Dolph for their game watch
Thats actually pretty funny and a great way for both the coach and recruit to get to know each other. I wonder what restaurant Dolph and Fran will order takeout from. I hope it turns into a party of sorts. They sell beer at Carver, right?

I 100% agree with you. When our starters were mere freshmen I was already saying this team is going to be really special when these guys are juniors and seniors. And junior year looks to be just ironing out the wrinkles before we finish in the top 5 next year (barring any significant injuries). Mark it, save it, call me out next season if I'm wrong, but I'll standby that prediction. And for the record, I think if Cook stays it will help but if he leaves it won't hurt much.

Edit: I should point out that by this point I expected jBo to become a solid PG but with Joe T coming in I think every position is loaded with skill players which only gives my fantasy prediction more weight.

Sounds like a good young player. We need to get commits from some of these guys visiting. Need stronger and more athletic guys to contend with B1G physicality.

My other prediction is that Noah Fant is a bust and Hockenson follows Kittle.

I wish Cordell was healthy he's an attitude changer that may have helped wake up the team in some of these games recently.

Same with Ahmad Wagner. Between those two and Baer's intensity I wondered how that would've played out a lot this season.

It's been over two hours and nobody has called me batshit crazy for my top 5 prediction yet.

i hope you are right about Joe T

Aside from seeing a miserable game, anybody hear anything about the recruits and this past weekend?

I always thought we would have landed Tyler if Kentucky had not come calling.

3rd or fourth in line behind UK, MSU, and I believe Michigan. He was never going to Iowa and play for mad Fran.
Michigan no longer pays players, so I doubt they were in the running for Tyler. We were his first choice if he and his handlers were looking to play amateur basketball.
