Here's how the west division records shook out last year. What are your predictions for this year? Seems like everyone is overlooking Northwestern.
1) Iowa 6-0
2) Northwestern 5-1
3) Wisconsin 4-2
4) Minnesota 2-4 (won head to head with Illinois)
5) Illinois 2-4 (lost head to head with Minnesota)
6) Purdue 1-5 (won head to head with Nebraska)
7) Nebraska 1-5 (lost head to head with Purdue)

IOWA 6-0 (3 TOUGHEST GAMES AT HOME)
WISCONSIN 5-1 (BRUTAL SCHEDULE BUT STILL PRETTY GOOD)
NORTHWESTERN 3-3 (WIN HEAD TO HEAD WITH NEBRASKA)
NEBRASKA 3-3 (LOSE HEAD TO HEAD WITH NORTHWESTERN)
ILLINOIS 2-4 (WIN HEAD TO HEAD WITH MINNESOTA)
MINNESOTA 2-4 (LOSE HEAD TO HEAD WITH ILLINOIS)
PURDUE 0-6 (JUST DONT SEE THEM GETTING BETTER ANYTIME SOON)

If I remember right Northwestern loses a lot. Wisconsin and Nebraska will be ahead of Northwestern.

Never get tired of seeing this.

The B1G West is going to be a wild ride again this year. Iowa should come out on top again. Wisconsin and Nebraska could both be better but they both have very tough schedules. If Northwestern can't replace they're D'line production from last year I think they take a step back. Minnesota I think will hang around a bit as they will have a solid team. They're switching to a zone blocking scheme this year and word is their young and very talented RB's are thriving from it. Minnesota won't win the West but I think they will make it very difficult for the teams in contention as Iowa found out last year.

I think the fact Iowa could lose to both Wisconsin and Nebraska and still win the west because of how tough the Badgers and Huskers schedules are only makes the odds that much better that Iowa wins the West again this year.

I think we win the division but lose to Minnesota on the road. They've been playing us really tough the last few years...Leidner has absolutely lit us up from his sophomore year onward. I see 5-1 in the division.

I do. Ugh. That was a bad day. My wife is a saint for dealing with my mood after that game lol.

Important to have a good wife on days like that! The key is will she use it as leverage the next time strolling through the Handbag section at the high priced retailer?

The team that plays Michigan State, Michigan, and Ohio State the least automatically has a huge advantage.

She's a huge Georgia fan, so it usually balances out. They always lose 1-2 games every year that they should win. She's a worse loser than I am!

This is why the B1G West is so much more enjoyable to watch, not just because the Hawks are in it but years like last year and this year I think will be the new norm where 4 or 5 teams every year will have a shot at winning the West. Almost every game every week is worth watching for B1G fans unlike the East where it really boils down to just three teams and around 3-4 games. I do think however if Ohio St, Michigan, MSU and PSU all find their way back into being top teams in the country the B1G East will rival the SEC West.

Wisky's QB situation and schedule has me down on them...
1. Iowa
2. Northwestern
3. Nebraska
4. Wisconsin
5. Minnesota
6. Illinois
7. Purdue

PennState and Nebraska will never find their way to the top of college football. That era is over.

It's too early for this. I know so little about the opponents.

I will put forth, though, that I think you're all underestimating Illinois.

I think Nebraska can be a top 35 program in college football and the way PSU recruits if they can ever put it all together could again be a top 20 program in the country.

I agree that Lovie will probably breathe some life into that program. That being said I think it is going to be Iowa, Nebraska and everyone else.

I see the Hawks winning the B1G West and going back to Indy for the championship game most likely against the Buckeyes. What I would not give to beat them and claim an outright B1G Championship.

Nebraska to BCC game.

For Nebraska, it's all going to hinge on Tommy Armstrong and how the OC calls the game. If Tommy is used as a part of the run game and his throws are limited, Nebraska can win most of our games. If Tommy starts chucking it around 35 times a game, NU is in trouble.

I think these predictions look about how I think it may go, but it will be fun to watch.

In regard to Nebraska vs Iowa, it's odd that 2011 was the only year the home team won (since Nebraska joined the B1G). In other words, the home team has lost the last 4. One would think that trend would end soon. Let's hope it does this year.

Interestingly enough, the home team has lost the last 5 games in the Wisconsin vs Iowa rivalry. Again, one would have to assume that trend should end soon. And I like 2016 for that to occur.

It's hard to believe that Iowa will go through another conference season undefeated, but at this time I can't look at a single opponent on their schedule and say "Oh, that's most likely a loss."

In short, I don't have a solid prediction. But I doubt Iowa will lose two conference rivalry games at home this year. But who knows.

Our offense and defensive starters can play with anyone. Give the ball away with a short field and the defense will give up points. Do that too much in almost any game and the Hawks will lose. Conversely if we drive the ball but can't get points with the kicking game when needed or can't kick our way out of trouble and we can lose a close game as well.

Lastly we can't sustain multiple injuries at the same position and expect that depth will be able to make up the gap.

So in the end it comes down to injuries, turnovers and the kicking game just like it does most years for the Hawks.

Injuries are always the issue for Iowa. We just don't have plug in replacements because we develop our talent. Blue bloods buy it..... I mean recruit more physically ready talent.

It didn't affect Iowa last year. It's one of the most impressive things about going 12-0 last year.

You may be right but I don't see Iowa losing to Minny, here or up there.

Iowa will win the west, and BTN championship.. CJB will be offensive player of the year, and if anyone throws at King he'll be the defensive player of the year...

I don't get all of the love for OSU. They lost 11 players to the NFL's first 100 players chosen in the draft. They lost most of there upper classmen. Lost something like 16 starters. They have something like 40+ players who are freshmen or redshirt freshmen. Don't give me the 4 & 5* reasoning. I don't think it will happen. Michigan returns most of their defense. Defense can carry them over OSU.

Iowa- 5-1
Nebraska- 4-2
Minnesota- 4-2
Wisconsin- 3-3
Northwestern- 3-3
Illinois- 1-5
Purdue- 1-5

Iowa goes to the B1G championship game and meets and beats tOSU.

Who is the loss to and when? This is very important for CFP implications... A 12-1 B1G champ shouldn't be left out but the hate for Iowa would be strong, again.

If Iowa's 1 loss is to Michigan, we will hear about the weak schedule and not beating anyone. If Iowa lost one game in the Big Ten, I'd bet it will be the Penn State game.

ESPN has an agenda and it's clear they really don't like Iowa so no matter how well they play, they will twist their arguement vs Iowa.
