Great job by the coaches and staff to host a large group to Iowa City for the BBQ.

Great job also by existing players to bond with our weekend visitors.

Great to also read how much our new recruits like the facilities

and Really Great to get 4 commits in less than 24 hours.

If we get Cam Buckley we would have gotten 3 of the top 5 WR's that I wanted to get. Buckley is my #1 choice, I thought Smith from Mississippi is a huge get (literally and metaphorically) and Holmes is a legit 4.4 guy. Those 3 would all compliment each other well and then include Eno in the backfield with the OL we always produce we now have a legit full package offense!!!!

We've got some speed coming in and I fully expect Oliver Martin or Buckley to join shortly as well. I hope we've got room for both. 1 wideout, 1 d-back, and 1 d tackle gets us to 17 so it's getting a little snug.

We will have some holes to fill next year in the defensive interior line, defensive backfield, tight end and qb, but this talented class will have some true freshman competing for playing time.

It's good to be a Hawkeye as the class of 2017 will find out.

Pretty sure we've already got 2 dt prospects
 
I think the best part about the guys we are getting is that they are obviously guys at or near the top of the list for the coaches. It's nice having a problem where we wish we had more scholarships to give.

The icing on the cake is that there is a lot of camaraderie between a lot of these players already. Hopefully they come in and keep the program trending the right direction.

Space seems to be getting limited but I keep saying I hope the staff if open to taking a few extra. Great class shaping up and we will surely lose a few between now and signing day. I hope the staff would take, if they wanted to commit, Buckley, Daniels, Martin and Van Ginkel.
 
Help me understand who we have committed that you're seeing at DT. I could see Coy moving over maybe, but Levi is at 220 and that is a huge project.

I was thinking more in this years class, I think Simon for sure and possibly Lattimore or Golston could have position changes. Then again we could see Welch and/or Beyer move to DE. Kind of a trend Iowa has with moving Safeties to LB, LB to DE, DE to DT (same can be said on offense: WR to TE, TE to OL), it really helps us become more athletic because we have great strength program that can add mass and not lose explosion and speed

Think Mitch King when you think of Levi. He has said the coaches are thinking dt for him.

We still could get Buckley, Van Ginkel, Calloway and Daniels. All 4 star guys i believe.
 
With this class I still see a need for a true DT if we can find one. We are going to need to fill 3 of 4 inside positions and while I doubt a true freshman would play I do think getting a backup that is size ready is a position of need.

Kirkpatrick is 100% gonna be a DT. Duwa is a DE. We took 5 DL's in the '16 class.
SIMON, LATTIMORE, GHOLSTON, SCHULTE, and MCKNIGHT. Coach Morgan has stated many times BEYER may play DE as well depending on what his best fit is. We are probably done w DL in this class IMO. Unless they find a real solid prospect. The staff still wants another WR and a S in this class. As they have eluded to.
 
Kluver and Snyder have been put on scholarship so there goes 2 that would have been used on this class. I may be missing more they have given to current roster players as well.

Mad man. That's why my initial post said I thought 1 would go to a wide receiver, 1 to a d back, and 1 to a D tackle. We thought we addressed the DT need 3 times with Harris and since he left we haven't brought any linenen on board. Now if we can't get a good one (and most of our remaining offers are to Jersey kids ) we may well go without a DT because of last years class, but my guess is if we can find one we would want to go that route.

To me, van ginkel is almost as big of a priority as anyone Iowa has had a commitment from the last month. This kid is a first rounder IMO

Fine. Maybe first round is over zealous but if there is one thing we have seen, there are lots of players that have first-round talent that don't end up going in the first round or even in the second round.

This kid jumps off the screen and I will stand by my statement that he has that 1st round talent potential if he puts on enough weight
