To take away the RPO? They were gashing us with Barrett until they weren't.. I watched the game but am not x and o savvy enough to tell what we changed defensively
Like I talked about a couple times this week, I believed PP was going to sit in coverage (take away the pass option of the RPO or make them throw short, short, short), key on the RB (they were hitting him in the backfield almost every play whether he had the ball or not) and make Barrett beat them with his feet. He can run, but he doesn't want to, and taking 15 hits or more takes a toll on his body, his throwing and his patience. He quit running and started forcing balls. After a couple early blown coverages (you could see the players talking to each other, so there was apparently some communication breakdowns) they executed this plan pretty much to perfection. Some people I was watching the game with kept commenting early that 'we better stop the QB, or he is going to run all day on us'. I said that don't worry, OSU is doing EXACTLY what we want them to do, and we are going to put hits on the QB and he will 'quit' or force things.
