.Prime example of why mid major coaches need to strike while the iron is hot if they want to move up. There’s always going to be up and comers that are younger and likely cheaper to hire.
But not everyone wants to move up and he’s seemed comfortable there.
They won the valley with an NBA player on roster and lost in the first round of the MVC. Only team to ever do that. He's still at UNI but hasn't made the ncaa tournament since 2016. Only 2 postseason appearances since then (including this year) according to wiki:

Looks like covid cheated him out of an ncaa bid judging by their 2020 record.
Too soon. Still too soon. How they lost a 12 point lead in less than 40 seconds is the most baffling and biggest choke job in the history of basketball.
It’s refreshing to see a guy where it isn’t all about the money 💰.He had opportunities after '10 Sweet 16 run but I'm guessing he saw what happened with McDermott and thought..... "Maybe I can enjoy life living in a good community at $500K/year".
I think that's what his raise was after the run. Now he's up to $900K.
People are driven by different things. Why did Hoiberg leave his home town and school and try the NBA? He failed miserably and came back to college.
I appreciate Ben for what he's done at UNI. He's a good coach and good for the community. He was :44 way from taking UNI to 2 Sweet 16s.
That '20 team was solid with Green, Berhow, Phyfe, Carter & Pickford.
Nate HeiseTransfer Portal has also hurt teams like UNI as they struggle to keep their best players. I think ISU got one of them this past season.
Nate Heise, yep. Also lost Bowen Born to CSU.Transfer Portal has also hurt teams like UNI as they struggle to keep their best players. I think ISU got one of them this past season.
What channel/network? TIANate Heise, yep. Also lost Bowen Born to CSU.
That's just the way it is anymore. But it makes you really appreciate a guy like Tytan Anderson for sticking around.
Panthers play tonight, 8pm at SMU in the NIT if anyone is looking for something to watch.
What channel/network? TIA
It's pretty clear he'll be a UNI lifer. I've heard he likes his situation and ain't interested in chasing the really big bucks or the really big pressure. He's a rare person who seems to appreciate what he has and understands there's more to life than money. At least that's what I've heard, and the evidence would seem to support that view. Not that anyone gives a damn about facts or evidence anymore.I'm not saying he should be the guy, but a few years ago he was the hot name for someone deserving a promotion to a major conference school. His record is solid and he has had middling success in the NCAA. Just wondering why no love now?

Sure, and he would have failed in 2-3 years then probably coaching D-2 somewhere. I think it was openly stated back then, he was very happy with his situationPrime example of why mid major coaches need to strike while the iron is hot if they want to move up. I remember watching that game thinking the refs let several obvious fouls go on A&M, then called a couple of touch fouls on UNI when A&M got the lead. A&M played the ISU/MSU defense and it worked for them.Too soon. Still too soon.
And I can count several uncalled A&M fouls in that 40 seconds. Couldn't inbound to save our life, but it seems like the officials got caught up in the excitement of it all and forgot to officiate. Jepserson's heave to beat Texas was about as good as it gets, and then to have that. Pain. So much pain.
