We used to run this effectively to White but I don't recall seeing us using it this year. Can't Uthoff or Uhl catch and dunk???
You answered your own question thoroughly.
That'd be a nice play for Uhl. Questions are....can he? And do they practice this enough, or at all?I disagree that they can't catch and dunk! I just don't understand why they don't set up that play this year???
Uthoff and Uhl both ran the baseline oop last year too.
If you guys think Uhl can't get well above the rim you're not paying attention.
Obviously the play was ideal for White with his long arms and mobility but there's other guys on the team that can catch a lob and dunk.
and Oleseni.Aaron White graduated.
Uhl is too soft. White was savage. I don't know, maybe I just need to pay better attention.
Like others said Aaron White graduated. The other reason is that teams don't zone Iowa this year. Iowa got zoned a lot last year.
Correct. Despite our recent woes, early in the season, we were shooting a lot better. With teams only having to key on Jok and Uthoff, we are seeing much more man.Like others said Aaron White graduated. The other reason is that teams don't zone Iowa this year. Iowa got zoned a lot last year.

To catch a lob?
That doesn't make any sense at all.
You don't get touched.
It's too bad Fran forget the easy set play where you lob it up to a tall 3/4 who was ready to expose a defensive weakness.
Wagner could be a physical beast as early as next year if he wants to put in the time.Wagner would prob do well with that play too
As much as we bashed Ogelsby he was often the one making that pass. I'd also say in the zone teams would not cover White and he could sneak along the baseline. Teams are much more aware of finding Uthoff in the zone.
No hops on the team is the answer. Uthoff & Uhl are the only two capable. I think Uhl completed one of these in the non con and we maybe tried a couple of other times. This was a weapon out of time outs and in bounds plays that we have missed. We used to see a few dunks per game with Olaseni and White. This year the most memorable dunks have been from Clemmons and Gesell and have been few and far between.
What? you didn't like the Woody hammer where he fell down?
Then you are forgetting a memorable dunk by Uthoff that left the TV guys going "wow."No hops on the team is the answer. Uthoff & Uhl are the only two capable. Which one was that? Most memorable dunk for me this year was Mike G against Northwestern.Good point. I did forget that one.
Does MG's air ball and Woody's put back qualify as a lob??
