What Important Issues Are Not Getting Enough Attention?

That the Republican Party has been overtaken by a psychotic, dangerous, egotistical dictator wannabe senile old man and the media allows it by sane washing him and pretending he is a legitimate candidate to be the leader of the free world.

Not to mention he clearly has signs of dementia but no one will report it.

Getting money out of government. Make lobbyists and PACs illegal. Get rid of Citizen United. Put caps on private campaign contributions. We’re trending towards a plutocracy.
I'd go even further and push to make campaigns publicly funded, we need our representatives focusing on legislation and not spending two-thirds of their time fundraising.

As I said, this is one of my top issues. But it's also the one that I see no way to fix. To fix it you have to get the people who are benefiting from it most to agree to make it stop.

It's like asking NAMBLA to outlaw pedophilia. Or casino owners to outlaw gambling.

The 3 stumps in my back yard, still waiting for them to be dug up. Was promised 2 weeks ago it would be done ASAP.

the cost of daycare. Its comical how it constantly gets brought up at debates and no one addresses it. Why does it cost well over $10,000 a year to have your kid at daycare.

The government shouldn't be involved in the cost of daycare.

If you can't afford kids don't have them.

The ridiculous amount of single use plastics and the plastic recycling lies. I loathe the idiots I see loading up their carts with water bottles and think they need to triple bag their groceries. Get a fvcking water filter and some reusable bags. SOTE!!!

So we only want spoiled rich kids running around? No thanks. I’d prefer more kids from hard working parents that aren’t living on the streets poor but bust their butts everyday to give their kids everything that they can.

I don’t need to see more jerk comments like the one you just made.

Here in Iowa, whatever is giving us all head and neck cancer. You'd think there would be some level of concern, but it's seems like people in positions to make some progress on finding out would rather not talk about it beyond hollow condolences.

I'm just saying it's not the governments job to pay for daycare costs. The comment wasn't directed at you, it's to anyone and everyone.

BTW, it wasn't a rude comment. I can think of something rude but I'll hold back.

Well I’m not saying the government has to pay for daycare either. That’s why 1-5 were addressing the inflation costs. If those weren’t so ridiculous, people could pay for child care a little easier.
But anyone that isn’t a complete dick has to realize the following fact is a bit rediculous.
Since 2000, the cost of childcare has risen 115%, well exceeding the 74% growth in overall inflation. In 2021, the average annual cost of childcare in the US was roughly $10,600 per child, per the advocacy organization Child Care Aware.Jun”

Many of the topics already listed are in my top 10.

I would also submit (I didn't see it) but the US public educational system needs a lot of true reform. We are doing less with more money spent than many countries, getting outpaced and the gap will be larger in a generation. And the fix is not to move to private schools. That only creates a "rich get richer and leave the less able behind".

The "private" industry of high level education costs skyrocketing should also be fixed (resolved). Easier access to whose who want it at a more reasonable cost.

I did a couple weeks of international travel this summer as well. Curious what you saw that makes you feel we are so far behind? Not disagreeing with you but curious as outside of europes train and public transportation, I didn’t really notice anything.
Valid question. I saw huge solar farms. I mean massive. More EVs and useless big ass pickup trucks. More sustainably and conservation. They also use nuclear very efficiently.

I love these unhelpful arguments from the right that are blatantly too late.

The kids already exist.

It's like telling a woman "if you don't want to get pregnant, don't have sex, or use protection" - AFTER she's already pregnant.

SMH

Getting back to child care, if we're going to reject government support for child care, we should probably make abortion legal until kids enter kindergarten.
