play is that if the starters are this bad, how bad is second team? Equally dispiriting is to flip the dial on a Saturday and see almost every defensive line firing off the line and occasionally blowing up a play in the backfield. Our DL philosophy seems to be: Stand up, hold your ground, and try to grab a running back if he happens to be running by you. We long ago gave up on the pass rush (2009 was the last good one, in Clayborn's junior year); now we can't even stop the run.

Also, while the d line struggles to get pressure the staff refuses to blitz to try and add anything. So we then ask linebackers to cover even longer.

It's because we don't rotate guys in....they are effing spent by the third series

I do see them rotate the d-line, because I see Ekakatie and Lattimore at times but I'm not sure how often they rotate. Linebackers never get rotated though. I wouldn't mind seeing them experiment with a 3-4. Johnson at nose guard with Ekakatie and Bazata at the tackles, then blitz with the linebackers. Van ginkel if he would commit would be a good outside linebacker in a 3-4, and good as a defensive end in the 4-3.

I said it yesterday at the game. Throw in a 3-4 and make em think a little. Too sexy!
