Just an observation, but one of our (and any sports forum) most interesting habits is the race among posters to be the first to say something important. A coach will work out, he won't, a player is a bust. Heck, we bust out players before they put on the jersey! :)

So with the intent to improve our opportunity for fun. Here we go. What, in the most descriptive manner possible, is going to go wrong when we play at Michigan?

I'll disqualify myself as I have no clue, or if we won't turn around and win the game.

I don't think anything will go wrong, we will go in there and play tough.

We will lose in the end though.

The only thing I do know is Fran will have 3 timeouts left in his pocket after the game.

Some no name kid on their roster will go off for double digits against us. Some kid who is averaging .3ppg will end up having 15+ vs us. Never fails, we make the average player look elite.

Is Iowa a bubble team if they lose and are 11-7 in B1G? Was just looking at standings for first time in a while. I realize that they still have the BTT but if they are 7th in B1G and lose in their 1st or 2nds game of BTT would they be at risk?

Joe Lunardi said Iowa won't fall below a 6, because of the number of quality wins, over MSU twice and Purdue, twice, and both of these teams are moving up high in the rankings.
We'll probably land in the 7 slot, unless we start hitting some shots.
Shooting below 40% was why we lost last night, and missing key free throws.

Look at all our losses down the stretch. FT's have been an issue and they have costed us some games. 9 misses last night in a 3pt ball game. @IU they shot horrible as well and @ Maryland as well. Something as simple as a FT and for whatever reason our players miss and the other team makes.

My confidence in this team and the coaching staff is at an all time low. In the second half of the season teams have figured out how to play us and Fran does not seem to make any adjustments to combat the trend. I guess I have become tired of the team looking like we are going to have a special season and then let it totally slip away.

Not saying I disagree, but Indiana was only 10-20 at the FT line last night as well. Shooting horribly from 2 (and 3 for Uthoff) and giving Indiana 2nd chance shots I think hurt us worse.

I think we beat Michigan. They don't do the things that give Iowa problems. Their not a physical team. They don't offensive rebound. I don't think that will mean that everything is back on track though.

What? 3 pointers?

I hope we understand that we have to play with a sense of urgency and score early in the shot clock. I hope we understand that if we continue to stop at the top of the key, pass it around, wait for Pete to break open, that our success rate is pretty low right now. Come out running and don't stop, even up 20 on their court, on their senior nite, run, run, run, run. Defense will obviously be key and we have to rebound better. We need to beat this team, we are better than we are showing.

I'm not hearing a lot of solid things yet. We're not really just guys who complain after a game are we?

We will be out rebounded and free throws will clinch it for Michigan. OH yeah Woody will miss a couple of 2 foot shots.

It's nothing new. In fact it's the same thing we've seen ad nauseum of late. They'll do a poor job defending the 3 pt line and give up dunks and shots at the rim. How they manage to repeatedly do both is puzzling

At some point late in the game (less than 2-3 minutes left) and needing a score, guys will be standing around and/or get into a position where it's late in the shot clock. The players will be thinking someone else is going to take the shot, resulting in a not ideal shot.

I just hope it finally goes in.

We'll play hard. Michigan will hit a lot of open threes and get a lot of offensive rebounds. It will be close until the last couple minutes, and then we'll stop scoring and Michigan will pull away. Watching Iowa basketball is like watching Groundhog Day.

Iowa 104

Michigan 76

We get going again in a big way.

I like this one. "Watching Iowa basketball is like watching Groundhog Day." You've got some good specifics here as well. Way to step up to the plate.

Sure wish more folks would step up like that!! Posters? Who is going to play too many minutes? Not enough? Specifics! It's Ground Hog day after all...what should we do that we won't do?

Hopefully, nothing will go wrong. If it does, it will be Iowa again--for the fifth time in six games--letting a team that they should beat somehow get the drop on them.

Lol at someone claiming we're a bubble team

Historically the Committee hasn't been too enthused with teams that have lost 7 of their last 8 (the only win a 4 pointer at home vs Minn) and finishing tied for 7th in the conf.

I got an actual answer from another poster above. Good to know Iowa is a lock.

While I agree that we are trending downward. The bubble is about as weak as it has ever been. There are no mid-majors jumping off the page this year. A lot of the power conferences have their 6-7 teams, and then there is a HUGE fall off.

Its not every year a team with an RPI of 70something is on the bubble and possibly in. The lack of Mid-majors this year is going to help Iowa actually.

The sad thing is we will most likely get into the 6-7 seed range and will be paired with another power 5 school in the 10-11 range. IF we would of kept winning and got that 3,4,5 seed then we might of been paired with a smaller school and easier opponent.

Michigan will shoot out of their minds and their guards will carve us up. Uthoff and Jok will be smothered defensively and we will score 1 fg the last 5 minutes. I suspect somewhere along the way we will have a 4-5 minute scoring drought. And (drum roll please) someone will have a career high for Michigan.

You know, it must be easy to be a reporter covering the Hawks these days. Just look at all the posters predicting a scoring drought in the last couple of minutes. All the reporter has to do is substitute the opposing team and the story is done. Quite sad

Yeah sorry for being a dick and you're right about the committee looking at trends. I do think if we don't grab a win or two, we will be on the 8/9 line, which will likely be lower than what the published bracketologists will have us. Same thing happened two years ago, when we were projected around a 9/10 and ended up in the first four.

Yes, Give in to your anger. With each passing moment you make yourself more my servant.

More specifics people!!! What is going to go wrong against Michigan?
