What will they look like Tuesday?

Slow, tired, and uninterested.

No 1 seed.
No playing in Des Moines.
No big ten title.
No top 10 ranking.
No coach of the year.
No conference player of the year.

Tuesday is going to be AWWWWFUL!! If they looked slow today it's gonna get ugly Tuesday!

Double digit loss and it won't really be that close. Fran has totally lost this team just like 2014. Poor coaching is getting old

The Hawks will get embarrassed by Indiana on their own court. This team/seniors are mentally weak to be nice. For the first time, I am actually starting to wonder whether FM is just a builder of the underdog, but can't coach with the top dogs??

All IU has to do is win and they win the league out right. If the line is even or Iowa is favored, I would suggest everyone putting their life savings on the great Tom Crean..

I don't expect a win. How could you after the play we've seen the last few weeks?
I do think they'll keep it close early. But, indy has the better players who are now shooting much better.
While they don't get anything for style points, I'd like to see the seniors not get blown out on their home floor in their final game at CHA.

Honesrly, who cares? Squandered away a golden opportunity. Did not see that coming with this senior laden team. 37 years and counting. I am beyond frustrated. So disappointed. Being an iowa fan is hard sometimes.
People on here talk about how bad it's going to be next year with the lack of experience. Problem with that theory right now is that this is not an experienced team. They are playing like an inexperienced team. If you didn't know what class our players are would you think we have 4 seniors and a junior with the way they are playing right now. This was not a well played game from an Ohio State. An experienced team would have taken full advantage of that.

A complete embarrassment that will be played out on tv for our clown friends to enjoy.

I expect a win or a loss. It wouldn't surprise me to see Iowa win or lose by double digits. Just depends how much pride they have.

Its up the players now. They have to learn to play together and get their heads out of their @sses. Iowa made their living off of teams struggling to score points against them. Those teams were just missing open shots. Now teams are hitting them and Iowa can't get a defensive stop.

If Fran plays the 2-3 zone it will be a run away for IU. Iowa will get curb stomped at home. He has to play man to man and not allow IU's guards to shoot the 3.

Sadly I think it will be:

Indiana 86
Iowa 71

I think the hawks battle tough, but both Jok & Utoff are no shows. Gessell, Woody play well in their final game at Carver.

If I were Fran I would bench all the seniors and start the bench. Who cares at this point, give them the rest they need. Apparently they are "tired" and worn out. Give them a break and just blow this game off.

I want to see Okey Ukah get some playing time. Seriously. I'm just a sucker for guys that show up and put their time in and never get any recognition.

Do they show up and just go through the motions?

I think Iowa wins, despite the past few games for you guys. Too much pride, it's senior night, and in our only true road tests so far (Duke and Michigan State), IU was slaughtered. I do think the quick turnaround after the OSU game will be tough for you guys, but I really don't think IU will beat you guys. IU does have several more days rest, but that hasn't ever proven to be an advantage under Crean's leadership. Just like you guys are down on Fran, we've been down on Crean for quite a while. I'm expecting a dog fight.

However, I do think we win on Sunday at home against Maryland. I'm not terribly impressed by them, and IU is undefeated at home so far this year. Famous last words.

I know it's easy for me to say, but keep your heads up. We went through a stretch like this earlier in the year (in Maui), and I know how bad it sucks right now. You guys still have time to right the ship, and you've got the team and talent to do it. If enjoyed watching you guys this year. And I don't think you're done yet.

You're dead right about teams missing open shots early & now they're hitting them. We can't rebound when they do miss now.

Pretty much the same. Close game but can't close it out and Indiana wins. Groundhog Day.

If Crean stays with the same defensive strategy that he used against Iowa in the first game the Hoosiers will win. They really didn't guard Gesell. Put Williams on Clemmons and begged him to shoot over Williams. Got physical with both Uthoff and Jok. Begged Iowa to throw the ball in the post to Woodbury but Iowa won't do it. Sag off of Gesell and Clemmons and even double off of them when Uthoff gets the ball in the post. Penn State used this blue print right after Iowa played Indiana. I know they had to see Indiana play this strategy so well. This is the blue print right now to beat Iowa and Fran has zero answer for it. He tried so many different lineups today which was nice to see but it seemed liked he doesn't have any real rhyme or reason to these lineups.

I think these defenses focused on Jok and Uthoff have knocked them out of their comfort zone. You double Jok and Uthoff and leave Gesell, Clemons, Woody open and those three will not be able to beat you.

I expected a middle of the pack Iowa team this year. Uthoff and Jok have stepped up well beyond by expectations, but opposing teams have figured out how to beat Fran this year. Fran doesn't have an answer. Return to the mean. This team is middle of the pack B1G team right now.

Thanks wiede for the kind post. As you can tell it's pretty much melt down mode over here. I think being ranked as high as #3 and being 10-1 in conference had us feeling this team was special. I'm in the camp that thinks we still have a good team but our shots stopped dropping and our opponents can't seem to miss. I believe the odds are in our favor that will change as long as the team continues to play hard. I don't think we're done yet either.

I am not posting a rebuttal to be negative because I feel bad for these players. There's no way this does not hurt. Your intuition is exactly the way I felt in 2014 and it never came back.

People are just losing their minds in our fan base because they started expecting great things before the season had even played out. We played way above the mean early but now it's evening out. The problem is the team is mentally wrecked so it does not come back this season.

Fran needs to come out and get tossed in the first 5 minutes of the game like Calipari did last week. The players need to have a fire lit under them and that will certainly shake things up.

Well, he'd do just as good in the locker room for the last 35 minutes of the game as does on the sideline.

He'll have to designate either Speraw or Dillard to get red-faced and scream at the refs all game long, just so the players don't get confused.

Hey i expected Iowa to be 9-9 in the Big Ten and on the bubble for the NCAA. I did not expect much out of this team, I knew coming into the season it would be a grind. I knew we had our starting 5, but not much after that. I also knew that Iowa would need a 2nd and 3rd scoring option.

What I am so upset about is the lack of defense this team has shown. They played great defensively early on and now it seems like they have lost all defensive effort. They are not shooting as well, but their defensive effort has been horrible. This is a group of upper classmen who have been in this situation before. I realize the shooting will fall off, but their defensive effort has gone by the wayside. That's what upsets me the most.
