They would have been very appreciative of teams of good young men who excelled at being student athletes,

They would of wanted to win more games but they still would support the student athletes and their team because that's whatcwasxtgecright and honorable thing to do.

1) They would be supportive of a group of young men who focused on academics first and sports second unlike the athletes now who do it backwards.

2) They would be supportive of young men who once committed to attend a University did not back down on their promises

3) They would be supportive of a group of young men who were appreciative of their scholarship and chance to attend a prestigious University and obtain a degree rather than the self entitled bloated egos of many of athletes today

4) They would be supportive of a group of young men who gave 100% effort despite not having the results show in the won loss column and they wouldn't hide behind their computers and smartphones and social media and create rumors and innuendos and falsehoods .

P.S

Not trying to pass blame here as I myself am guilty of many of the points above but just being honest...

I am in the group you specify, but keep in mind that the pro game is different, college athletes and their social background are different, society and its expectations are different, and athletic departments, their budgets and expectations are different. Those times are not coming back and we need to compete in today's game. This is Nebraska's problem, living in the past.

And they would be giving "hundred dollar handshakes" to the better players when they congratulated them after a good game. All was not sweetness and light in those days.

Do you really want to know the answers to these questions, or are they simply implications since you are making it clear you have assessed guilt towards today's athletes?
