Whatever

Hawks had no answer for Cowan tonight

I do wish they would have tried to post Wieskamp up earlier. He was doing a lot of damage and drawing fouls down there late. Maybe a recipe for success at times down the line

Nonsense, this team did not quit. Had many obstacles by playing on the road - foul trouble against a quality team. The refs did us no favors but that is life on the road.

I get so sick of "life on the road". It's a crock of shit and more teams get it than say others.

Like others have expressed, a loss tonight is certainly not surprising considering we were playing a ranked team we beat and wanting revenge on their home court. To suggest this team quit is just plain ridiculous. It was not a blow out and we did compete as hard as we could. Now, we will take out our frustrations on Illinios and I fully expect a win.

No quit in this team, Really felt the game was decided when the Hawks cut it 7, Got a stop, They get the rebound and eventually scored, Seemed like that same scenario played out a few possessions in a row, Just couldn’t seem to get a defensive rebound when momentum really had a chance to turn.

Cowan was 3-8 from three. 9-15 overall. So if we let him shoot threes he would have 3 fewer points and probably many fewer free throws. Maybe we should try that if we play them again.

Yep. Despite everything there was a few minutes there around 8 minutes left to 6 minutes left where our guys get a break or drain a three I think the game might have gone their way.

Obviously the foul situation on Garza was a huge factor in the game, but the defense in the second half was pretty bad (Maryland scored 46 points). Cowan did just about anything he wanted including making several layups. Maryland did out play Iowa down the stretch, because Iowa could not get a stop. If they did get a stop, Maryland got the offensive rebound and made their next shot.

If you cannot stop and/or constrain Cowan (or any good point guard) Maryland will typically win given the jillion games I have watched in the BIG.
