At a resort right now and need a drink that I can drink 8 or 9 of while at the beach or pool without killing my stomach. What do you suggest for tomorrow?

Tequila? Boat drinks always kill my stomach. Take a few shots after breakfast and keep it going with a beer an hour with a few more shots after lunch and you’ll be fine.

Coronarita... In a glass with ice... Corona light, shot or more of tequila, squirt of lime juice. Pour once into another cup/glass and back into glass to get rid of some of the carbonation. Give it a try.... you'll be hooked.

Somewhat similar to Nole’s suggestion but I thoroughly enjoy icebergs. Frozen margarita on top of a draft beer. The margarita melts down and it becomes more salty than sweet.

My wife had like 5 of those today. Those aren't too bad.

@FAUlty Gator does that drink have a name?

A couple people near us got icebergs today, but I'm not that into margaritas. But I may give one a try.

No. I’m the only one i know that drinks them...until I let people try mine. Then that’s what they order. They taste so damned good. Remember Coconut VODKA...not Rum. Cirac and Smirnoff both make it.

Aviation and original Mai Tais are two of my favorite lighter not overly sweet cocktails. And I specified original because Mai Tai mix and modern versions are all sickeningly sweet drinks. But the original from Trader Vic’s is great. I use Black Seal for the dark rum, the American version of Havana Club for the silver and Gran Marnier instead of a cheap Curaçao. Fee Brothers is the best orgeat I’ve come across.

For the aviation make sure you use Luxardo for the maraschino liqueur as everything else is too sweet and artificial cherry tasting.

I was going to say Mai Tai but unless you’re in a place that is known for them you’re gonna get a sugary mix that tastes like crap.

I kind of glossed over the OP so I missed the “implication” he wasn’t making it himself (also it didn’t dawn on me you wouldn’t bring your own stuff, I always bring my own stuff even sneaking it aboard cruise ships not necessarily to be cheap but because it’s usually crap that’s served).

But you are absolutely right, most mai tais are sickeningly sweet overly fruity drinks. I wasn’t even a big fan of them preferring things like hurricanes and handgrenades when you’re talking fruity drinks. But my wife got me the Trader Vics Tiki Party book as it has a lot of the original cocktail recipes made famous there as well as the original “Polynesian” food recipes like the real original crab Rangoon. And once I tried the original mai tai, I was hooked! It’s not overly fruity, as a matter of fact the only actual fruit in it is the sour cherry from the Luxardo and lemon juice. By using Black Seal rum I get the banana-tasting esthers without actual banana that adds a little more fruitiness without sweetness to the cocktail. But it’s a great cocktail, the muddled mint leaves from the original adds a nice freshness and herbaceousness to the cocktail and the real orgeat from Fee’s brothers just adds a savory nuttiness to the base of the drink.

Sidenote, if you want to up the fruitiness without adding much sugar, you can substitute in Bumpu rum for the Black Seal. While the Black Seal tastes like bananas from a chemical created by a naturally occurring beneficial bacteria in the fermenting process, the Bumpu has actual bananas and some light spices in it.

1 shot Captn
1 shot coconut rum
OJ
Splash of pineapple juice
Splash of grenadine

Ice and shake. Want to get blasted? Double the shots. Thank me later.

Someone there knows how to make a proper margarita. Lime juice in place of sweet/sour. Delicous!

If you live near CR the newish Mexican type place Caucho uses fresh squeezed lime juice and gives it to you along with the beer of your choice. Really good.
