Based on that Havard marketing gal who cost AB billions in the biggest ad flub in history they are probably saving massive money by avoiding harvard outright. It's not the same institution it once was.

I have had several Harvard grads work for me over time. I found almost as wide a range of competence as you would with big 10 grads. Some morons and some genuine geniuses. As such I don’t think it was ever the institution society gave it credit for. It is a giant investment fund, with a great brand name whose graduates trade off the influence and network of the alumni base.

Best teacher I ever had in my life taught me high school geography/history (freshman) and Senior English (senior), was a grad of Harvard, had a Masters in Religion from Harvard, taught about 20 years in my hometown, then retired from teaching to run the Pester Derby his parents owned in Oskaloosa. The guy was a friggin’ genius! Intelligent! He could communicate, he was understanding and always relevant! As an adult, I co-worked with another teacher I has in HS and he told me that this guy was “the smartest man he ever met in the world”!
Post HS a few of us would drive over to Osky and visit with him at his Pester station..the guy was always welcoming, always intellectual without being overbearing, welcoming.....and reading some God-awful sci-fi paperback! You’d have never guessed he was a Harvard grad...except he truly was one smart sumbitch!

Same.
I think the doors and opportunities that are opened simply by having that name (or Yale, Stanford, etc) on your degree are what really set them apart.

Look no further than the Supreme Court. Both past and current. It's basically an Ivy League club with very limited exceptions.

Hope they enjoy losing cases to Harvard-trained lawyers, lol.

Talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face.

If the woke fraud President is any indication of the lawyers coming out of Harvard the referenced firm won’t be losing. There are other law schools to choose from.

We can all agree President Gay is an academic fraud and should resign in shame, correct? The board that voted to support this fraud, their votes should be made public and they should also resign.

Do these people not have any values or sense of right & wrong?

President Gay is a fraud. Why protect her?

What are your issues with the current academic and ethical standards of the law dept at Harvard?

They have not organized to oust their fraud of a President and the Board that is protecting her. Gutless. Pathetic. No one should be protecting a woman who publicly equivocated genocide and licensed harassment and intimidation of the Jewish students on her campus.

Lack of moral courage.

This is stupid virtue signaling. The reality is that unless you are a wall street firm, recruiting at hls is a terrible business proposition in terms of time, cost, and probability of success.

As to the proposition that somehow harvard lawyers are going to outsmart non harvard lawyers, that is categorically false if for no other reasons that harvard lawyers don't really want to practice law in the first place.

In another decade it wouldn’t surprise me if an AI lawyer isn’t the best.

Something that has instant access and intelligence on every law case ever recorded.

Big fan of cancel culture are ya?

Good thing the Suits law firm got ahead of the curve by going down the tubes. They would have had to struggle with their Harvard Law only policy.

I predict Harvard (or Penn or MIT) won’t ever see a decline in applications over this.

Also, Bill Ackman seems like a tool.

Law firm to cease on-campus recruiting at Harvard due to university president's congressional testimony

Too bad more of the anti-woke crowd don’t take the quote from the OP to heart for everything, including the problem (Trump) that is 1000x worse than a college President trying to balance free speech concerns in hypothetical cases designed to trip them up.

This nonsense is just the other side of the same woke coin.

College admissions consultant in 'complete shock' as multiple students reject Harvard early acceptance offers

Let’s see. Whole lotta speculation in that piece.

Headline got ya, though.

It used to be the case that Harvard was the only school of HYS with real grades and it drew the most exceptional minds because of it.
