Not sure about movies, but I found dad's hardcore mags when I was really young. Like 5 or so?
This was not Playboy. This was some German stuff with bodily fluids and everything.

Back in my day you had to have a Super 8 movie projector. We knew the movies existed because we had two or three Triple X theatres in town.
I found my dads when I was in 8th grade. He had a suspended ceiling in the bathroom, pushed on it to hide some weed. About 50 magazines came falling down on my head. Dad was into more than Playboy and Penthouse.
Back in the late 70s our local drive-in converted to a weekend flea market and evening XXX theater.

Not sure where I first heard of them, but I do remember the first one I went to. The Naughty Victorians at the Lake Theatre in Fairmont Mn. I was around 16. 1977 or 78. I saw one or two at The Strand Theater in Milford Ia. They would stop the movie and have a stripper get up on stage. Late 70's or very early 80's.

I grew up on a street that had an old logging road at the end of it that went out into the woods. It was a real popular place for people to go and do the dirty deed. 10 or 11 probably. There were channels on certain servers on IRC that ran DCC servers, you could download and upload. Most servers carried a credit - you received 1 KB for every KB you uploaded. The really awesome guys did 2x or 3x credit per KB. It would be a list of files - think like a DOS directory listing - that you could download from. Due to network speeds at the time (I had 14.4 kbits dialup), JPGs were a common format. The 10+ second AVIs were awesome but huge to transfer when they'd be close to half or a full megabyte.
