It's really hard to get through a whole season without playing a crappy game and either losing or nearly losing to an inferior opponent. It happens to every team, even those that end up undefeated (see OSU against NIU). Even in our best seasons, we've had 1-3 games we played very poorly in and either lost or won by the skin of our teeth. As I look at the schedule, I'm wondering when that game rears its ugly head. I would almost classify Pitt as that game given we gave up a blocked punt for a TD as well as a virtual pick 6. Not to mention our normally very good defense allowed a late TD drive that included two 4th down conversions and were still able to win.
As Iowa has moved along, I've been thinking about this a bit. I hope this weekend isn't the game.
