are you self-sufficient, resilient and most of all prepared to deal with it?

I believe I am, what say the rest of you?

It won't.
The next Great Depression will hit, but you won't be able to prepare for it. Unless you have zero money in the stock market, have zero debt (including home), and are unemployed, a depression will likely take you out one way of another.

Care to add any more "unlesses" in there disprove your statement?

What precautions have you taken that make you feel you are ready?
Strong central network of family and friends, a lot of money saved up, mostly debt free besides the house, extra wads of cash ready to be used at any moment, a bank where a family member works, so if something happens they can pull it out immediately for me.
Guns, camping gear, extra propane, wood stacks, started a garden(not doing so great though, LOL), friends with local police, etc.

Most of all i'm in a career field which is not going away anytime soon. Unless the grid itself completely fails and if that happens,..well,.. we're all f'd.

Honestly, I'm willing to bet a lot of people on here are just as prepared as me, they just haven't really thought of it that way.

What he is saying is he has stocked up on gold, guns, and ammo.

I will probably just start a brothel when society collapses. There will always be a market for sex and I figure once society breaks down their will be no law enforcement so there will be no one there to stop me.

Oh and we have a big garden out back so we have plenty of food.

Unfortunately, you may be right with this. Unless you're a 1%r during it, your fate is up to chance.

I wish I had some gold, but I haven't committed that deeply yet.

I would turn some of that cash into silver coin. Just in case it gets really bad.

If another Great Depression hits, your money may not be worth as much as you think it is. And how long can your stockpiles possibly last? You have enough wood and fuel for years? You're probably just as dependent as everyone else on society functioning as usual.

Congress will have an emergency session to seize half of all personal assets for people with a net worth of $1 billion dollars.

Kick all illegals out of country and there would be plenty of jobs. Crappy jobs maybe but a paycheck at least.

Too many programs in place to have another truly Great Depression.

You have more faith in the government is too big to fail than I do - hope you are correct.

Storng network of family and friends is going to be very important.

If things get really bad money won't be important. What will be important is holding on to the provisions you have and for that you will have to project force.

What's nice is that they are all close too. Something I was missing the past 10 or so years.

You fools keep talking about how you would survive in post collapse USA. I on the other hand put out a plan on how I will thrive.

3BoysMom, Wendy, Meg, Natural (gay sex sells too)...I will be in need of workers if you are wanting a safe place to hunker down.

I am curious to know why you feel it won't happen. Are you not familiar with history?

I am that's why I'm familiar with the FDIC, social security and other measures. I can also look at 1987 and 2008 and see the crashes then and the fact there were no bread lines or 30 percent unemployment.

There goes your jealousy showing again.

I didn't even mean that you don't have money (which I'm sure you don't), what I'm laughing at is your belief that your "savings" will somehow allow you to survive a great depression type of financial collapse.

Do you think you will just saunter past all the street-shanties to your local Edward Jones and pull out your money and everything is hunky dory?

The next great depression will be bc the dollar is displaced as the worlds reserve currency...that will happen when the govt debt bubble pops and when another country or group of countries present themselves as a strong enough economic power to displace the then current US purchasing power. With China taking it in the shorts now it could be a while before that day happens.

Inflation at that point will run wild so the OPs "savings" won't do him much good, it will be worthless.

Since I will be selling sex as my commodity in post apocalyptic America I will be more than fine. Start drawing up business plans boys, you are going to need them when economic hell fire rains down.

Oh I see. No, I'm just saying I have enough to make some purchases as this happens in order to hold off in other areas. Like I said before, if there is a sign that the bottom is about to drop, I will make a phone call, have my money taken out immediately and hopefully it will be worth something.

87 and 08 were not depressions. That's why there were no bread lines or 30 percent unemployment. How do you think the FDIC will insure your deposit when the national debt is 50 trillion? Stock market crash does not equal depression. The cause of the depression precludes a stock market crash.

I don't think another depression will be hitting. We'll have recessions for sure, but we put systems in place to protect against it.

I kind of agree with this. When the US Dollar finally loses it's reserve currency status, Americans are truly f*cked. America has the war/conquest thing going for it. That's one reason WHY America is so militant. It would be nice if it were just honest about it.

And, if the dollar crashes, then having dollars will be like having leaves on the ground. You might be able to eat the leaves.
