When was the last time you cried?

My brother died of a drug overdose in 2017 at age 41. He was deeply disturbed and I didn't talk to him often for about 10 years prior.

He wrote me a letter and gave it to my Mom (no pics) a few months before he died. The day after he died, she gave me the letter. I opened the letter in my parent's kitchen and my Mom saw his handwriting and started crying.

I left my parent's house and read the letter in my car and in it he apologized for all the pain and suffering he had caused the family and how he always felt guilty about it. It felt like he was speaking to me from beyond the grave.

I started crying on the way home driving alone after reading it.

I honestly don’t know.

I did 6 years ago at my wife’s grandmother’s wake.

It was at the end and it was pretty much just close family left.

My daughter randomly started to play the piano and my father in law started to sing.

I had to get up and leave the room. When I got around the corner I lost it.

Ask anyone that knew her, she was the most amazing person in the world.

Last month when my mom passed.
Before then in October when my sister passed
Before then in Sept when my best friend since kindergarten passed

Horrible fall season for me and family.
Best of luck, Hawk. Definitely a bad run…but He never gives you a load you can’t handle. Hang in there.

I always admit I am the emotion coach on our staff (the highs and the lows) but
when seniors (and their families) who you have developed a relationship with for 6+ years walk off the field for the last time it ALWAYS gets me. Probably doesn't help that I coach girls and they are already bawling. Every year has a few stories but this year there are two particular ones that will hit hard. One has almost single handedly helped progress our program to new heights and has been an amazing leader in our school since day one. The other has told me several times I'm "about her real dad" as he isn't in the picture much. She had a brutal injury her soph year and wasn't sure if she would ever be back to playing.

I'm lucky that I have worked with a ton of great kids.

I love you my brother.

About a 2 weeks ago my dog was sick again and didn't want to get up for anything. He usually lays down a lot due to age but he will get up to great someone who just walked into the room or walk over when he wants attention. But he just wasn't doing that.

I cried because we were worried we would have to put him down. (He's 14 so we know it's coming soon). Vet gave us steroids which he has been taking but he recovered pretty quickly. We suspect he might have had COVID or something because the rest of the family got sick right after.

Last good cry was after I had to put our family dog down, during COVID, while the kids were at school. Just waiting for the pin to drop when they got home was a nightmare.
I have found though, as I've gotten older, that I tear up at the silliest of things, though they probably aren't silly. My oldest daughter singing her first solo in a choir concert, seeing the kids in church during their Christmas program, hell, I teared up last year at a 4th grade girls basketball tournament that my girls won, just the excitement on their faces was enough to start the emotions.

We aren't an emotional family, my wife's side is the exact opposite. Maybe they're wearing off on me..
