They should tax the hell out of coal to pay for the nukes.

That's how modeling works. What would you have them do, create another planet to test different climate strategies?

Do you know what the Scientific Method is? It doesn't stop when you make a model. I can make a model. You have to have results that prove your hypothesis or at least let you go test again with modified assumptions. Tell me what results you have from modeling climate 50-100 years from now that let prove your hypothesis? You basically have a bunch of projections that everyone stands around saying, "Oh yeah, looks good".
