Where were the passes behind the LOS way to the sideline - long handoff type passes?

I thought this was a big element of Lester's offense from West Mich? I dont remember any to a WR with other WRs blocking. There was one to Kaleb like a screen.

Those should be easy passes to complete, safe, and one good block or missed tackle and you can gain big but 4 yard gains and spreading out the isu defense would have helped?

Did we have any of those types of plays? Have we not learned them yet? Are we too slow to run them?

IIRC, there were a couple similar passes, but not all of the way to the sideline. The ISU D seemed be ready for them and there was a lot of congestion around the intended target. Gill caught one, maybe a TE or RB on another. I was concerned about INTs on both.

Normally your receiver is a few yards behind the LOS with receivers blocking for him. If you see the defense really crowding the LOS and cheating up on that type of play then fake that throw and throw behind them to one of those blocking receivers told ahead of time to fake the block and catch it 10 yards down field.

Iowa was playing too conservative on offense after the game got tight

Yep. The two I remember were early in the game and they never went back to it.
