Based on what I am seeing today and hearing...

75% Pinstripe 25% Music City

Looks like Music City might stay true to B1G standings. That means Purdue over Iowa.

Foster Farms vs Washington St

Doubt it happens, but I like the time this game is played for viewers. I think the other 2 options are Music City and Pinstripe..they are played during the day where most people will be at work and not watching

Only one scenario could possibly put Iowa in the Holiday Bowl:

- First, Wisky would have to win BTCCG (does any Iowa fan REALLY want to root for this?)
- This would result in 3 B1G teams in the NY6 but none in the Orange Bowl, giving the B1G a spot in the Citrus.
- The B1G would have to shove Northwestern down the throat of the Citrus, who would almost certainly rather have Michigan St. Otherwise, Northwestern would essentially be locked into the Holiday Bowl (Like Iowa, they cannot play in the Outback, and cannot be "passed" by Iowa, who has 2 fewer wins overall).
- The Outback would have to select Michigan St over Michigan; like Northwestern, MSU is guaranteed to be ahead of Iowa, and if passed over by the Outback would be locked in the Holiday.
- Then, the Holiday would have to choose Iowa over Michigan.

Even scenarios that land Iowa in the Music City are limited; a win against Northwestern or Purdue would have almost certainly landed us there.

Hello, New York!

I'd consider driving down to SF for the Foster Farms. I'd like to see Iowa vs. Oregon, but it will probably be against Washington, Wazzu, or Stanford and I don't really want anything to do with them.

Looks like the Foster Farms and QUicklane get no B1G team. Most places projecting Utah State to Foster Farms and Central Michigan to Quicklane.

Is foster farms definitely "below" Music City and Pinstripe? Or are they on equal tier?

Looking at the standings based off BigTen.org, Iowa is above Purdue. Both (4-5) in conference play, (3-3) in division, and Iowa has a better overall record. I don’t know how the tie breakers play out.

So I’m not sure how true your assessment is.

Also, a much tougher schedule and Massey PC ranking of 26 vs 44.

Never in my life did I expect to be "wishing" for the Music City Bowl, but I am. I don't relish the thought of our Hawkeyes playing in front of thousands of empty seats in a baseball stadium in late December.

Since I can't go. Pinstripe. I want to go to the Music City Bowl, and I know if it's this year, we won't be back for a while.

Speculation to Holiday Bowl picking up steam again too...

Even with one in the playoff (OSU or Wiscy), the other plus PSU in other top 6 bowls (Rose and Orange or something along those lines), we still have MSU, Michigan and Northwestern (and technically Purdue ahead of us). Under old rules which gave Bowl games more autonomy in who they picked, we could jump 2-3 of those teams, but under the new rules trying to stick to BIG standings, probably won’t happen.

In Picking order, Holiday and Outback come next, which I would predict MSU to Holiday and Michigan to Outback or vice versa.

Then comes Music City and Pinstripe. Hopefully NW to Pinstripe and we jump Purdue for Music City.

Next is Foster Farms, so Purdue in this scenario.

I just don’t see how we come close to the Holiday Bowl. However, I would love to be wrong...

You are close but northwestern is ahead of Michigan in order for bowl selections.. Michigan to pinstripe is a real possibility no one is talking about..

Agreed it’s a possibility, I just assumed the bowls still had a little leeway, and given the chance they would prefer Michigan over Northwestern, hence my prediction.

I still can’t believe there any rumors at all of Iowa to Holiday, as that would likely require us jumping many teams, and I just don’t see it in the realm of possibility under the Delaneys new pecking order rules.

Just please no Pinstripe. What a horrible bowl. Would prefer the BIG ditch it altogether in lieu of a different destination, better for our team and fans.
Pinstripe is most likely destination. I guess I don't really care since I won't be going.

You’re forgetting the Citrus. Big ten will have a team in the Citrus unless OSU beats Wisconsin AND Auburn beats Georgia

I recalled the Citrus, but thought it was Orange or Citrus, with Rose. At a maximum, I doubt we get more than 3 teams in Playoff/big 6 bowl games, regardless of what games those are. Making Holiday fourth.

If bowl prep wasn’t so important to the team, they should decline bowl invite (if in fact Pinstripe) similar to what they did back in ‘07 when they went 6-6.

Pretty sure Iowa simply wasn't extended an invitation in '07. There were fewer bowls back then, so 6-6 was no guarantee to go to the postseason like it is these days.

Yep, big ten had enough 7-5 teams to use all the slots and there were no available at large spots

If no big ten team is invited to the Orange Bowl the Citrus extends an invitation to one. If Wisc, OSU, and PSU are Int any three of Rose, Sugar, Cotton, or Peach then Citrus gets 4th Big Ten team (just like in 2015). The Orange bowl automatically takes the highest ranked non champ from B1G, SEC, ND (this will most likely be an SEC team this year) to play against ACC

True, although there was the Armed Forces bowl (not a Big Ten bowl) that wanted us and could have had us if Troy - someone had gone right. But it did not.

If Iowa hadn't lost to Purdue and was 8-4 like Michigan, then maybe.
Just don't see it, given how so many Iowa fans mortgaged the house to go the Rose Bowl, 2 years ago, including myself.
It may be a couple of years from now, before Iowa fans are ready for San Diego.
