Today's news about college basketball will surely cross-over- who should be worried?

I'm thinking the SEC should be terrified, but what about the B1G?

Adidas sponsored programs. I doubt there will be much "crossover" to football. However, one program would be an obvious suspect: Miami - Scandal U.

Probably wont get to football, totally different set of people, ways and reasons for cheating.

Shoe companies arent trying to influence football players because football players dont move shoes and theres no environment similar to the aau circut to facilitate these relationships.

Cheating in football is done stricktly to get players and without the shoe and aau middle men and way more players its easier to hide and probably allot less prevalent.

Highschool school coaches are still the main influence on youg players besides parents in football and far less likely to be corrupt.

I'm going to rank them most likely to least likely

OSU
PSU
Maryland (only because of their very close ties to under armour)
MSU - 'cause dantonio
Everyone else

None of them. This particular scandal was focused on identifying potential one-and-done candidates, making an investment now to cash in 18 months later with a shoe deal. Doesn't work that way in football.

The SEC for sure. FOR SURE.

I won't name names but I have a close friend who knows a former SEC coach very very well. (The coach has been to my friend's home.) The coach told him that Alabama has the perfect system and cannot be caught. There are zero connections to the school and everything is done through boosters.

I've also had a conversation with a very well known Hawkeye whom I know quite well. He played quite a while in the NFL. He said he was offered money at a number of places (he didn't name them) and selected Iowa because they did not break the rules. He actually said that Iowa's character was a primary reason he came to Iowa. And he was not a 3* recruit.

So @ctghawk , I think most SEC schools are nervous. Urban & Franklin came from the SEC. They know the game. You can draw your conclusions just as I've drawn mine.

One last story: Remember when 5* OL Cyrus Kouandjio narrowed his schools down to Bama and Iowa? I've been told by good sources that his decision was based on a Cadillac Escalade. The Iowa recruiter supposedly asked Cyrus if he was ready to commit to Iowa. Cyrus responded that he was if he received an Escalade. The Iowa coach said "We don't do that at Iowa." to which Cyrus is alleged to say, "Well they do at Alabama." And off to Tuscaloosa he went.

I agree that basketball is the main focus here because of the shoe connections, however the wannabe "financial advisor" (Marty Blazer) was living the good life, and its hard to imagine he didn't seek other opportunities to expand his business. And the FBI owns him now.

No mention of Ole Miss? Haven't they been one of the more head scratching schools that tend to get highly ranked players without ever being that good? Auburn may find some heat, just based on the Cam Newton scandal a while back.

No inside info, but they stand out for me as teams that I've wondered about.

Could Oregon be in trouble with such close ties to Nike? I'd expect that their basketball team is in more danger than football, but they certainly seem to have plenty of access to recruiting "resources".

Agree with those who posted about that the basketball mechanics are way different than football mechanics, so very unlikely this will spill over.

I have no clue if this is true or not about Cyrus but I do know he is no longer playing football and was a bust in the NFL so much for college coaches preparing kids for the top level

Not exactly like AAU but it is starting to creep into football. Look at all the 7 on 7 teams in the more populated areas. Look at all the shoe company camps. Some agents represent athletes in multiple sports. So I wouldn't be surprised if there was some spillover from the basketball mess.

Not saying boosters are buying them. Just seem somewhat popular

You beat me to it. I love watching our players on those stupid scooters. Cause then I know we ain't cheating!!

And.............personally I could not support a team that was breaking the rules. The character of our program is as important to me as winning.

Cheap mode of transportation. It actually fits the lunch pail, conservative philosophy that this program recruits.

After what has happened in the last week, Iowa putting up a dogfight against PSU, and the whole NCAA basketball thing, I am very happy that Kirk doesn't care about stars and recruits players that will "fit" at Iowa. Not everybody can be a Hawkeye, not everybody fits in here.

If you think that Iowa doesn't cheat your being naive. My dad was in business in Iowa City and connected enough that he knew some of the stuff going on. I will say that he passed in the early 90's so things could have changed but I have my doubts
True. I there are things today. But I'm aware of only minor stuff by independent boosters. I personally am unaware of things from within the program.

If there is something I don't want to know.

Not a fan of tOSU, but after Tressel and their penalty, I think whoever took the job was going to have be very careful about following rules. I think Urban has played it pretty straight...

Great point Danny.

Did this ever get reported or investigated? Pics or confirmation that Kouandijo got the luxury car?
