Who are the best & worst fans in the B10?

Worst- Kansas State/Colorado- Goodness I was shocked how much they hated Nebraska.

Honorable Mention: Iowa State- Goodness they hated Nebraska too.

Best: Iowa

Worst = Colorado, easily. Trash

Best = Oklahoma

From my experiences, although there are cool people in every fanbase.

Iowa State fans are the worse.....no doubt about it. My experiences in Jack Trice have been depressing even when we won there. They hate us in Ames.

Best: Iowa of course! Next up is Penn St.
Worst: Minnesota

Biggest non-factor fans: Indiana

Man, I have to agree with the colorado sentiment. Went to a game there one year with some of my husker friends. We were afraid for our lives.

Worst I have ever seen in a stadium was San Diego State during the Marshall Faulk era. Not sure if they were San Diego State fans but groups of black guys were roaming the stadium and throwing punches at anyone. Security couldn't control it. I was fortunate enough to not be attacked but that was damn scarey shit going down.

The worst for sure fans I have endured oddly enough was BYU in the Holiday Bowl.

Most F bombs was a couple of kids that sat behind me last year against Minnesota. F this F that. Didn't really bother me but thought they must have been going for some kind of record. I do know they went to high school with Matt Nelson or at least they said "F ya, I went to F;n Matt's F'n School. You believe that F'n shit. I just smiled and said that's F'n awesome. :)

Worst: Arizona
Best: LSU

Both could be in the Big100 in a few years.

Since we drifted out of conference....I will just say this x 1000. Arizona was the absolute worst I have ever seen. Nothing is comparable. I would ask 50 random people at a Wisconsin game to be godparents for my next child before going to another game at Arizona.

If anyone went to the game in 2010 you have to know this to be true. There is a lot of truth to the concept of "well it just depends on who you run into.....everyone has good and bad fans," but,

If you say you didn't run into any a** hole fans in Tucson in 2010 (and you were wearing Hawkeye gear), then you either weren't really there or you were in a coma. I root for Arizona to lose every athletic contest they play.....always.

My experience having been to several stadiums and having spoke to others who have as well, is if a team is a rival their fans suck. If a team wins a lot, their fans suck. All teams have bad fans, but they are usually in the minority. If you are unfortunate enough to run into a bad fan, it can influence your opinion of the entire fan base.

Would agree klemman. Went to the shoe the year our RS freshman took it to overtime. We weren't treated graciously or poorly. More like we were just left alone.

Will say, however, that there is a short stretch of city b/t campus and the hotels downtown that is a little sketchy in daylight and a whole lot more so at night that I didn't care for.

Best to worst:

Top tier
1. Nebraska - well behaved fans and a lot of them. took my 5 year old daughter there when we won in 13' and was treated great.
2. Penn State - absolutely went out of their way to help us out and show us around. was 09' game raining cats and dogs but warmed right up after safety and Clayborn's blocked punt return. white out was quite impressive.
3. Ohio State - actually saw us win in 91'. The loudest stadium, very passionate & proud. Probably the most intimidating place as an overall atmosphere.
4. Wisconsin - 2nd loudest away stadium. Actually had a great experience. of course we won :) this was back when we were beating them like a rented mule. but i will say this their fans were passionate much like ours
5. Michigan - sorta vanilla experience. but i like vanilla! unfortunately never saw us win there including the 97' game when Dwight and DeVries (on one good leg) nearly willed us to victory. they packed the place but as loud as it should be.

Middle tier
6. Michigan State - was there when Cedrick Shaw destroyed a metal bench on the sideline as well as the entire Spartan defense. Their fans seemed kind of ho-hum but they showed up and seemed friendly overall.
7. Purdue - during their good years. Good crowd then but not very boisterous. Very friendly, up there with Nebraska & Penn State fans.
8. Maryland - didn't seem like we were in D.C. metro. family friendly experience. overall, but not many fans in the stands

Lower tier
9. Indiana - love interacting with their fans when they show up. I kind of wish they'd have one really good season, just so they could experience it.
10. Illinois - Cold day but they had a decent turnout, but like Indiana their attention is on basketball.
11. Minnesota - Many fans dressed in vikings gear. Gophers normally an afterthought. Was there for gorilla man streaker, the failed attempt to assess Iowa a crowd noise penalty in 90' and for the goal post tear down ceremony in 02'.
12. Northwestern - how do they still play in a large high school stadium. worst stadium experience by far and no fans to be seen.

Rutgers - will find out in September when the Hawks invade!!

I have always regretted this, but I quietly rooted against the Hawks at the end of the 2010 game so that we could get away safely. The football gods delivered with a late AZ drive for the win. Like the poster, I refuse to root for AZ even if they are playing ND. By comparison, Bucky at night in Madison takes on a Mother Theresa aura.

I know the Nebraska fans are on this board the most but I would argue the worst internet fans are Penn State. Those guys are douche bags who think they're too good for the B1G.

If you visited BWI during the Sandusky ordeal, you would have a hard time seeing PSU Internet fans as anything other than low life scum-sucking POS.

Those people behaved like the cult of JoePa.

I've been everywhere except Rutgers, and I'll go there this season. Most places multiple, multiple times.

Minnesota two years ago was the worst I've ever experienced. The last time we played MSU at East Lansing I had to go through a metal detector before entering the stadium. This doesn't speak to their fans, with whom I had no issue with, but I never had this happen anywhere before.

Not exactly pure B1G, but the second time we played Florida their fans were horrible.

I think Michigan is the loudest place. tOSU came close in 2009. I've heard this argued before, and I never get people saying tOSU's stadium is a better experience than the Big House.

Anyway, I've grown to enjoy the road trips more than home games.

I once saw a youtube video of students in Columbus pelting Michigan fans with Beer Bottles. That wouldn't be fun. But that's Ohio State-Michigan. It's like asking Alabama and Auburn students being civil to each other.

Internet-

Worst:
PSU
Nebraska

Best:
Internet fans generally suck.

In person-

Best:
PSU
Michigan

Worst:
OSU
Wisconsin
MSU

Wisconsin fans are the worst, from my experience, in terms of being drunken imbeciles and complete douche bags.

Ohio State fans are the worst in terms of being entitled and complete cry babies when they lose. I just absolutely love it and I mean love it when they get beat in their home stadium and they zoom in on all the fans with tears streaming down their cheeks holding and consoling each other. It's truly pathetic,

As shady as I think Harbaugh is, I hope his Michigan teams start kickin Ohio State's ass on a regular basis.

I've lived in Mpls since leaving Iowa City in the late 80's, & been to nearly ALL the Hawkeyes games up here...
Mn Goofers are the worst, beyond compare. They chant, "Who hates IOWA? WE hate IOWA! " If we are winning in the 3rd quarter everyone goes home.
Never been challenged, fingers pointed in my face or thumped on my chest anywhere else, & if they happen to be ahead, they go crazy-cocky. So it is hilarious when we come from behind & win !!

I went to the first Nebraska vs Iowa game after they joined the B1G and had a fun experience despite the outcome. Their fanbase was funny though. They seemed to have a lot of older fans, 55+ years old, who couldn't have been more nice and welcoming. The younger fans, probably under 30 were a lot of fun as well. Then you had the group in between that would now be about 35 to 59, who seemed very better and angry and were vocal about their dislike of anything Iowa. I just chalked it up to them being drunk and upset that it wasn't 1985 anymore. Almost everyone in Lincoln was great though, and it pains me to say that. I just wish there was more leg room in the stadium.

Wisconsin fans are walking punching bags, here or there. The used to go to the Ped Mall and try to take bars over the night before games and wondered why they got piss pounded for their actions. I'm sure Minny feels the same about Hawkeye fans. We can get pretty bad on good years downtown.

Nebraska fans are not only the best, the entire state is amazingly friendly. We stop at gas stations along the way in our Iowa gear and everyone in the store wants to talk football and wish us good luck. Good people, they just need their internets taken away. I'm sure I do too.

Since we opened it up, these are based on my experiences.

Worst:
florida - I've seen their fans throw ziplock bags and bottles filled with piss @ opposing fans.

Duh u @ the old orange bowl. Not uncommon to come out and find your car vandalized and people trying to fight you on the way in/out.

ISU- haven't been to Jack trice, but have never had more people give us the finger while driving down to the FSU/ISU game in k.c.

Best
Nebraska- not much to add

Oklahoma- fans were great both there and in Doak

Ole Miss- team was crappy when I went to a game, but the tailgating is great, much different than anything I have experienced before or since

I really enjoyed both of the Indiana fans at the game this year. They were so beat down that they just go to enjoy the day, not expect to win or anything.

Not one BIG team amazing.

Had a family member go to Wisconsin. One year I went to Madison to visit him and attend the Iowa game. I walked into an on campus cafeteria with him wearing Iowa gear and got booed and food thrown at me by 200 plus Wisconsin students the friday before the game. I asked for it though. On gameday my cousin told me the only tickets he could get were student tickets, so I had a rough day. I actually had a can of beer thrown at me. I guess it was all payback though because a few years earlier after Iowa upset Wisconsin in Kinnick a bunch of us drunken Iowa fans (about 100) rocked the busses the Wisconsin fans were occupying.

Surprised that Minnesota has been named by many as the worst fan base.

How could any Iowa fan have a problem with an opposing fan base who would not only willingly permit their visitors to occupy their home field but also stand by as Hawk fans proceed to tear down their goal posts? Exceedingly hospitable if you ask me.

Living in Chicago I've been to many Iowa-NU games in Evanston. The Cat fans are at least 50 percent of the crowd, and they are loyal.

Although this is not news and I would think it is accurate, I just found it very funny.

Northwestern fans are at least 50% of the crowd in Evanston. That's kind of sad for a team that was the door mat of the B1G for decades but over the past 20 years they have been respectable enough to bring in more fans.

Wisconsin fans are the worst. Almost as bad as Iowa state fans. OSU fans are bad if they win big. If the game is close, they are so shocked that they almost lost and may be friendly.

As much as I hate Nebraska they are very nice fans (in person). OSU and MSU are the worst, I've been to all B1G stadiums except Maryland. Been punched in the back of the head at OSU and spit on at MSU.
