We currently have 2018 recruiting class commitments from Teasdale and Brands.
Who else do we get?
How much $$ is available for the '18 class?
Does anyone have any clue's or predictions? Sasso? Teske? Esmoil? Who?

I think we need another HWT because unfortunately I have concern's that Stoll may ultimately be done b/c of his knee issues. (God I hope not!!!) Its tough for a kid w/ that weight to keep that kinda of pressure on a knee, let alone a repaired knee.
Costello is a descent prospect but I think we need another HWT in the room. Not sold entirely on Costello. A. Bradley quitting has really hurt as we all know. I see Gremmel > Costello just to make the argument. Then throw in Stevensen, Isley, Metz, Nevills etc. etc. I don't have a lot of faith in the HWT position w/ Costello alone.
184 recruiting........ WTF? This is an area of concern obviously.

Just looking to see if anyone has any takes or predictions. Just for shits -n- giggles.
Go Hawks!

I liked Gremmel but has he wrestled once for ISU? Heard he got arrested. Since there is a new sheriff in town, things might end up differently. I like Costello and I'm betting its a win win. Have depth at HWY with relatively no $$ spent. I think AC has the attitude but just needs to develop his body some.

Have not seen AC wrestle much but i think 285 is an area where guys can get better quicker in college because most HS rooms don't show a lot of stuff specific to 285 and workout partners that are good are scarce. Also, Berhow has done a great job so that has to be encouraging. Not saying picking up another 285 would not be good. Also, many were worried about Stoll getting his body caught up and after a RS year looked great and this year did as well. Stoll was obviously better coming out of HS but the Hawkeyes have always had guys do well at 285 so I am not too worried.

If Schultz does not come who else is on the radar ?...understand Schultz is a must get kind of kid but what if someone else gets him, wait or get another guy right away? I imagine iowas success at 285 coupled with Berhow and Telford at HWC would be pretty enticing for any 285 serious about being an AA.

I will be more than a little surprised to see Gremmel have an impact at the D1 level. Maybe he matures significantly and comes around.

looks like someone just giggled then ....

Gremmel had all the talent and natrual ability in the world to develop into a very solid D1 heavyweight. But, his over partying and laziness is most likely going to take that away from him. If I had to bet on either Costello or Gremmel to have a better resume at the end of their careers, I would put a lot of money on Costello.

Wow Duck thats a lot of info to chew on. Can you please elaborate? Since your in the know as far as the partying, laziness etc. of Gremmel can you elaborate for the rest of us? Details?

I Like Costello too for the record but I don't think TnT even sniff at him if Bradley is still in the program. I don't think he's elite. Man is he short! Not a knock on the kid bc we're talking personnel here. Glad to have him on the squad but we need 2 healthy HWT's. Under the circumstances w/ Stollhouse's health I'm convinced we need another HWT in the room.
And because we are Iowa an elite HWT should be the norm.

I don't think I necessarily mentioned a bunch of info that was needed to be "chewed on". I said I believed Gremmel was very talented and could possibly, if developed right, become a very dangerous heavyweight. But, I also mentioned how he may have some partying issues, and I know I am not the only guy on these boards to mention that, so I don't understand what exactly you are questioning there. Nor did I ever say I am a Gannon Gremmel expert. I do not follow Gannon around all day waiting for him to mess up. I, like many, have heard rumors about him partying and personally believe that makes him undisciplined. On the other hand though, I have heard from people that know him and they say he is a very nice kid. I honestly hope he stays out of trouble, and we get to see him compete with whoever our heavyweight is in the future.

We have to get Top 10 guys to compete. Sasso and Gable would be great. Need some 184ers though.

And if you can fire up the "magical money tree" and/or get several "elite" HWT.'s to sign for next to nothing, we're behind you all the way.

At this point having a "real" HWT. as a backup is a much better situation than the present one. If Stoll isn't healthy we'll take some lumps for a while either way, whether it's Holloway or Costello. I'm sure Iowa is looking at other HWT.'s for future classes, we'll see who they get.

I think this is probably true. I think they will aim higher at HWT in future classes to compete with Costello.

People really need to stop with the Steveson talk.

it's so fun to mess with the pst and minny folks talking about steveson like we are after him, i heard he wasn't coming because he thought brady berge was, so now berge is going out east gable is back in play.

Hate to piss in anyone's cherrios, but I wouldn't get my hopes up for Sasso... Not sure if he's a risk the staff is willing to take.
Hmm I don't like handing over at top 10 recruit to Nebraska or tOSU because he maybe a risk. Sure there's more to the story then I know and I trust the staff to do what's best for the team, but we're not catching PSU by not going after interested top recruits.

Teasdale, and Brands are a great start. Steveson/Schultz/Parris are the next biggest priority IMO. Sasso would be awesome, but is really icing on the cake, as I think we have more than enough firepower to man 141/149 after Sorensen between Murin/Happel/Turk/Glosser. Our biggest weak spots look to be Hwt and 184. With only Holloway/Costello on board right now and Wilcke/Wilson/Bowman as the 184 range.

Care to expand Gobblin? Just surprising that Sasso would put Iowa in his top 5 if Iowa isn't, or hasn't shown any interest.

Does anyone think Cash is a natural 197 lber? I have a feeling he is there because Brooks is at 184. I would say there has to be a plan in place with Warner coming in and Max Lyon not a Hawkeye.

"I'm told it'll be Iowa or Nebraska.

Gobblin, what has changed since you posted the above?

More homework by the staff... I don't think the staff wants to risk another Skonezney situation or worse. With the current commits they don't need to take the risk on a kid like Sasso.

That said, it's Toms decision and if he feels he can still get him to thrive in the room, I'm completely on board.

Like championhawk, I also prefer the prospects of Lee over Sasso... We'll have to wait and see if the staff agrees.
