In the last 2 weeks, the plans have come out for a lot of larger companies. In looking at the benefit options for 2016, on average looks like costs up 20-25% versus 2015- its higher for the premium plans with the lowest deductibles and the least amount of out of pocket.

Starting to get a lot more focus on the 2018 Cadillac tax. If there is not some serious cuts made in costs by the HMO's, enormous numbers of corporations will drop their plans altogether and force millions of workers to go into the exchanges to get coverage.

Is this a good thing? Sure doesn't sound very good.

The fact that the word "Affordable" is part of the name of this terrible law is a cruel joke on the American people.

What you really have is a shift of risk from the usual copay plans to the high deductible plans. It makes a lot of sense for companies to do this… Too expensive in a self-insured environment to do anything else. (Eventually, outrage with service cost will catch up to providers and HOPEFULLY costs will begin to come down.)

Obama's "crowning achievement" will be his legacy's anchor in a few more years.

Now here come the "well, what we REALLY need is single payer" people... who will never admit Obama and the D's screwed this up beyond recognition when they had the votes to do whatever they wanted.

Oh, so now you're going to try and tell me the "The Freedom Act" was really about...

Sonofa....!!!

Yep. The government is again free to snoop through your emails and strip-search your grandmother at the airport.

So far not too much defense of the Cadillac plan..

I agree hopefully costs have to eventually come down- HMOs have too much "profit pressure" But when will it happen? My premiums for my HMO were 525$ / month in 2014- 2016 will be just under $875/ mo. Apples to apples..

I must just be lucky. Our plan has actually gotten even better than the last few years. Perhaps I'm in the minority here or perhaps I just choose to not inject politics into every topic.

Consider yourself lucky that your company still offers an HMO. Absolutely a dying breed.
The current Caddy Plan thresholds are too low, but there is a defense for some companies and organizations to have rich plans. Especially, non-profits that cannot pay their employees market, but they can offer an expensive health benefit that will produce a tax break for the group.
Service prices will not start to come down until all consumers are "encouraged" to shop for cheaper service options or pay higher costs. How many of you use GoodRx, for instance, to find the pharmacy selling your prescriptions at the lowest price. I am guessing not many, because most health plans require only a copay for drugs… And therefore, it doesn't matter to you what they cost.

Ours only went up on average about 4%. But, the average middle aged person will also go up about 4% per year, so if you take a 4% increase, plus the insured is a year older, plans could be 8% higher. I have seen nothing approaching 20-25%

I have looked.

Same cost as last year.

Re-enrolled in the same plan (BCBS PPO).

Costs for the individual didn't go up much for us, but if you want coverage for the wife and kids you have to take out a second mortgage.

Did my elections today - SUCKS A$$. Thanks Obama!!

"Once upon a time I had a plan...
A plan I really, really liked...
Then along came this ogre named Obama...
The plan I liked was taken away...
I now am paying nearly 20% more for a plan...
This new plan doesn't have the same perks of the one liked (err promised I could keep)...
Why my ogre did you lie to me and my fellow Americans?
Why do you hate America so much?
The end..."

I'm on an HDP with a HSA. Premium went up ballpark of 4% this year, with a nice discount if you hit your wellness credit requirement in 2015.

All the extra money any middle class family can accumulate will pretty much be bled dry by the health care industry in this country.

For instance, had a 9 year old break his wrist this summer.

Out of pocket expense for me with pretty decent health insurance? About 2K

I could think of other things I could use that money for if it were just laying around.

I wish I was super rich instead like everyone on here.

Mine seems to only be going up 4% as well, from $25 to $26 biweekly. I'm alright with that Obama.

Mine are only increasing by $25/month, or $12-something per pay check.

Prior to the ACA, providers increased rates by 20-30 percent annually, which was the main catalyst for change.

Greed.

Our new benefit year started Oct. 1. Monthly cost went up 9%. Deductibles went up last year, but steady this time around. Still pissed that I have to pay nearly full price of my prescription drugs until my annual deductible is satisfied.

We have a Medicare Advantage plan from Humana. Co-pays and deductibles and drugs are going up a little, and monthly fee is going up 18.6%, but coverage isn't changed significantly. No big deal; 18.6% is the difference between $43 a month and $51 a month.

Just for giggles, I did an obamacare quote, to see what my ins would be.

They would have me paying 4 times as much as what we pay for a FAMILY.

Terrible coverage too.

If you're comparing it to a work-subsidized plan, that's apples/oranges.

And FWIW, plans on the ACA websites are the same as what you can find on the private insurer's sites; only the ACA purchased plans qualify for subsidies.
