Most folks have a favorite professional athlete they
currently admire the most. This admiration could
be based on success on the playing field or perhaps
their strong work ethic and character.

Who do you admire the most?

Yes, they can be retired, it does not matter what their
age happens to be. They must be still living.

Retired - Didier Drogba
Current - Lebron James

Drogba killed my teams on both sides of the Atlantic, and I don’t watch the NBA anymore, but they put their money where their mouth is.

Michael Jordan was a success on the court with
6 NBA Championship rings. But what impressed
me was his work ethic. He played the game with
100% effort and he expected the same from his
teammates.

Derrick Brooks. Hall of Fame player, both in college and the NFL. Was one of the team leaders when my alma mater won its' first national championship, then was one of the team leaders when my favorite NFL team won its' only Super Bowl. In addition, he is a high-quality human being who has put up a great deal of his own time, money, and effort in helping underprivileged kids in the Tampa area, with a strong emphasis on encouraging education. There are few better examples of what it means to be a good person. He's made FSU proud.

Athletes who give back. Good list so far. I believe LeBrick also gives much to his community so I'll add him.

After last night, Herschel Walker. He got the “athletes should stay out of politics” crowd to listen to a black man talk about politics.

Last year Money, Inc. published a list of the most
generous professional athletes who gave back to
their community through various financial foundations:

The list included Serena Williams, Lebron James,
Derek Jeter, Tiger Woods, Eli Manning, Larry
Fitzgerald.
