Who saw this coming?

I sure didn’t.

I called us a .500 team at best after DePaul. I suppose we still could be I don’t think we’d go in that big of a slump as long as Garzilla is healthy.

Great win! But again, a caution. Our early season hope's with nice wins and high ratings have been dashed in the long Fran era. Jang on.

After the DePaul game, who thought this team would be 8-3 at this point? Gotta give credit to the coaches and team for the job they're doing.

DePaul was a fluke. If you didn't see that im not sure what you were watching last year. We, a team that has shooter everywhere, has to shoot well to win, we were terrible that night and they coykdnt miss...off night. I for one think.we shoykd be 9-2...gave SDSU that game.

This is a good team, probably a bubble team based on what we've seen so far. Still need to show that we can defend - teams that can do that can survive when the shot isn't falling. We certainly haven't proven that yet.

Keep in mind - Iowa is a really bad matchup for ISU. They're not a good shooting team so they're unusually susceptible to our defense, especially with our length and the fact that they don't really have anyone on that team that can get their own shot either. I am shocked Haliburton is considered by some to be a lottery talent in the draft as his shot mechanics are a disaster and that prevents him from being an unstoppable drive and dish type of guy. We have too much offense for most teams to stop and that was the case here.

Still, a really fun team to watch and definitely not the disaster it looked like against DePaul. I definitely was in the category of poster that wanted a change in leadership. A few weeks later, it looks like the offseason paid off with this team, Connor is improved 100%, CJ is the real deal, and Garza turned into a monster. Glad to say, mea culpa. For now at least.

I CERTAINLY DID!

Had a great vantage point out there on the ledge, ya know.

That was the night Connor's face got bloodied. At the time, seemed like an appropriate metaphor for the entire program and I even posted such. Boo for me!

I didn't see it coming (at all) and I'm still skeptical of how this team will look against the B1G (likely without JBo) but hey, as a Hawkeye, I'll enjoy it for now.

I saw a win, I didn't see a 16 point victory. This ISU team isn't good! I have wager with an ISU buddy that they don't win 17 games this year in the regular season!

I am pleasantly surprised, but heading head-first into the conference schedule without Jordan is going to be a bumpy ride. The B1G is a very, very good conference this year with no gimmies. I think Joe is going to be a ton of fun to watch over the next (#?) years, but there will be some learning moments to be sure and Jordan's qualities will be missed this year.

This again? They’ve been good in February previously as well under Fran.

Fran's had two teams that were in B1G title race for 1st half of the season and both collapsed in Feb/Mar. Last year's team had a collapse in 2nd half of B1G, but got its act together in NCAA tourney to have a win vs an athletic Cincy team and a near comeback vs an athletic UT team.

Gatens senior year, he went on an epic 3pt shooting run and singled handed won a few games down the stretch. That was an NIT team. Aaron Whites senior year, he also had an epic stretch and won a few games and 2nd half schedule was soft. That team got beat in 1st game in Big10 tourney. They beat a not to talented Davidson team in NCAA tourney and got blown out in 1st few minutes by a pretty good Gonzaga team.

Up until past few years, Fran had a really poor record in close games at Iowa.

JBo changed has changed that Narrative.

I flushed the DePaul game as soon as it was over. I was still bewildered by what I saw though.

It was a Murphy's law game for the Hawk - What could go wrong went wrong

And for DePaul it was a Yhprum's Law game - What could go right went right.

Didn't think we would be where we are at right now.

I think we are going to have issues all year with quick teams that are shooting well (>35-40%) from 3.

That was a huge win at one of the toughest places in the country to win against a hated rival. The Hawks made it look easy. Depaul is a good team that shot lights out and the Hawks were out of it after 10 minutes. It looks like the team has figured out their roles. I want to see more of Joe T. He makes mistakes but their aggressive ones and the more he plays the faster he'll learn. I'm very exited to see him develop. We haven't had a guard like him since Woolridge.

I didn't see it coming at all. Last night I anticipated chippiness, a Fran blow up, and Iowa St. killing it from 3. If JBo sits, the team will get reshaped a little, but more Joe T. minutes will be fun to watch. This team can shoot and score even without Bohannon. If I were to worry about what happens next, my worry is that Pemsl can not even handle 5-10 minutes of playing time at this point. This leaves us super thin on depth.

Over FM’s career Iowa is 32-32 in February, including a 6-2 and 5-2 seasons then 2-6 and 2-5 seasons. All others have been 4–3, 3-3 or 3-4. Not great, but definitely not epic collapses every year that so many like to say.

Bryce Cartwright says Hi! He was one of Fran's first recruits and their hasn't been anyone like him since until JT.
It was about time!!!!
