I have taken notice of this my entire life. Being amazingly attractive is hard and requires a lot of brainpower and a huge amount of discipline. Intense diets that you stick to for years, lots of gym time and keeping it up year after year. ... posture, poise, style; all of that stuff has to be learned and practiced. Even language skills are a part of it. It is not easy.
I think the crowd that wants everything just handed over simply lacks the willpower or the intelligence to do these things.
