Why chuck up a ridiculous shot with 50 seconds left?!

Mind blowing shot selection by Payton. It’s like everyone thinks they’re Caitlyn Clark now. Totally unnecessary.
Meh. How many times has he hit that shot. I swear he is like 50% from that dribble up court and stepping into his own look. Murray and Payton basically lost this game with their shooting. But it shouldn’t have came down to that. Iowa should have been able to beat this team on a strong defensive day alone. Getting some mismatches during transition would have helped too.

Nebraska had a better game plan, played good defense, and let iowa beat themselves forcing deep looks.

Look at nebraska shooting percentages, look at Iowa rank in FG % defense and 3pt FG % defense....worst team in B1G. You gotta make it somewhat difficult to make a shot. Sandfort has the balls to be hero, didn't happen...

Maybe when they are on a roll but not to tie the game

Payton is my favorite player for the Hawks. However that last long shot was a very BAD idea. We could have worked it around for 10 or 15 seconds for a better shot and still get a 2 for 1.

Similar note, Kris needs to stop fading every damn time.
There is no doubt that shot by Payton was bad but I feel more confident in that shot than Kris (our supposed offensive leader) pissing down his leg yet again today with a stellar 3-13 from 3 point land.

Kris will be a role player on an NBA team somewhere with spot minutes shooting 3's. Not a bad gig though. Definitely NOT a "put the team on your back when they are struggling" type of player like his brother was. Keegan could score through double and triple teams, Kris struggles with 1:1 sometimes and seems to go in a shell when he struggles from the field. Your leaders have to find other ways to affect the game when the shot is not falling.

Level headed assessment I'd say.

When Iowa settles for 3s, they are not as good as when they are mixing that with scores in the paint. Tony wasn't aggressive again today, and when that is the case, Kris better be on, or Iowa is no longer an elite offense. Iowa got a lot of offensive boards today, or this game would not have been close.

This is true. Tony was not aggressive at all. It's not like Iowa was not shooting WIDE OPEN threes and missing again today. It almost looked like they were really tired. Emotionally spent?
