Why did Travis Hunter win the heisman?

Guy isn’t even a top 25 player in the country. I’m not knocking him because he is good and it’s tough playing both ways but come on…he is not close to the best player in the country.

ESPN bias strikes again
Pretty sure he will be a top 3 pick in the draft, if not the first pick. Not sure where your getting "not top 25".

Deion Sanders is really good at marketing.

100% influenced by the hype and marketing machine.

I agree it's hard to play both ways, super rare these days. And he may he a top pick in the draft, but based on normal metrics and measurements, he shouldn't have won. But, Im content it didn't go the to the SEC hype machine

This sums it up really well.

It was a very close vote between two deserving players. Certainly makes sense (to me) for the vote to lean to the guy who played twice as much each game, but if Jeanty won because his team made the CFP I could see that argument as well.

Wondering if the players had the same stats but the teams were flipped (Hunter on a G5, and Jeanty on a P4) Jeanty would have won.

How many defensive snaps did Jeanty play? Travis Hunter played 84% of the totals plays for Colorado, not 84% offensive plays, but 84% the teams entire plays. No one else was over 55%.
He didn't play any, but also consider Jeanty had over 2,000 yards AFTER contact. He's an insane generational talent.

If he did that at a P4 while Hunter went 84% of snaps both ways at a G5, it could be very close.

He won’t make top 5 and lucky to be top 10. He’s not currently listed top 5 at either CB or WR
Maybe I'm missing something

Yeah, I think he likely goes in the top 3...certainly in the top 5 - exact spot depends on needs of the teams at the top of the draft. I will be interested to see what he ends up mostly playing in the NFL. No way is an NFL team going to play him full-time on both sides...question will be is he primarily a receiver that maybe plays some nickel on passing downs, or primarily a corner who plays some WR in clear passing situations. I'd guess the latter.

I’ll support any winner where it’s not “starting QB on best team” as the pre-destined winner. In terms of “best football player”, excelling on both sides of the ball is good to see rewarded.
