why didn't we blitz the crap out of them?

Their vaunted Offense was last in the Big Ten entering the game. Iowa made them look great, hard as that is to do. Leidner is certainly capable of throwing it to the other team, or into the ground, but you can't let him or any other human being playing QB sit back there and take mental snapshots of the entire field, and make a sandwich while doing it. Iowa rarely blitzed (duh), but when they did it helped, as it quite often does. The fact is Ferentz and Parker go outcoached, big time. Our Offense and the players on it refused to let us lose. Thankfully.

Last?? Are you serious? Wow we made them look more than great actually. Don't the coaches discuss the game and see that something isn't working. And to those that thought the game was never in doubt I say negative, that game could have went the other way very very easily.

Parker Hesse going down in the 3rd Q probably had something to do with it after that. Second half rush was non-existent with just the front 4.

Iowa's LB's were the focus of Minnesota's offense - we saw this last year too. You bring LB's on a blitz and if you don't get to Leider, he either runs free controlling clock, or their TE's are even more open than they already were.

Don't blitz and then hope to contain after catch yardage, or for Leidner to not be accurate. Unfortunately, they couldn't do either.

I was VERY impressed with Leidner Saturday. He's more accurate than I ever thought he would be, and appears to have finally figured it all out. Some times, you just have to tip your cap to the opponent. And Minnesota appears to have an offense that is designed to take advantage of the unit that is always key for Iowa defensively, the LB's.

The Gophers had a great offensive game plan that they executed beautifully. Thankfully, so did we. 10-0 feels pretty good, hats off to the Gophers for playing their best game of the season.

I'm not smarter than the coaches, but Ive watched Leidner a lot. When you pressure him, he does some severely boneheaded things. He even did them Saturday the few times Iowa brought pressure, Leidner just got away with them. 10-0 though, can't argue with it.

Leidner played like Ben Rothlesberger on Sat...tough to stop...
Leidner has a history of playing well against Iowa and their WR's and TE's have been running routes and catching the ball much better the last 2 or 3 games.

MN is a tough team, built by Kill to play well against Iowa.

You can't give me the excuse "that would have left receivers wide open"....cause they were wide open all night anyway. The D made the qb look like Joe Montana.

The big plays Minny had were well designed and executed. The TE blocked or fake blocked for 2 seconds and Fisher let him go and flowed to the play. When he reacted it was too late. Then on their last TD it looked like a run play and our Strong Safety sucked up and gave up the TD.

Blitzes probably would not have been effective in either of these cases.

Look I dislike Minny a ton as well but in this case tip your cap.

They put up a whopping 10 points against Kent State and were shut out at Northwestern. They were 112th in the country and dead last in the B1G in scoring offense coming into the game.
Do you even watch football? Defense has been the strength of their team all year.

to tell you the truth I don't watch a lot other than the hawks so guess I'm not an expert like yourself. All I know they looked pretty darn decent against us.
