Why does anyone care who wins tomorrow?

Shocking the only thing worse than OPs political takes are his taste in whiskey. Good lawd, there's so much better whiskey out there. Although JD single barrel cask strength store picks are usually delightful.

I fear she's going to be the most-incompetent president since Jimmy Carter.
Yeah, you obviously don’t understand how stacked the deck was against Carter and how well he did in the face of adversity.
He also is top of the list as a former President leading the way in making a difference culturally.

Maybe OP is right. If there’s anything lacking in our political consciousness, it’s apathy. More apathy will make it all better, I’m sure of it.

Nothing will change appreciably. Both of these candidates are horrible and we're screwed no matter who wins. The only difference is if your particular ox is being gored worse with one over the other.

Anyway, I'll be spending Election Day with my good friends Johnny Walker, Jack Daniels and Evan Williams.
I care because I think the stock market will do better, there will be a lower volume of illegal migrants crossing our southern border, and fewer foreign wars if Trump is elected.

Carter is a fantastic human being and did great work as a FORMER president.

But his performance as a sitting president was turrible.

Whiskey or bourbon is the real question.

Agree with everything except the we're screwed either way part

It's harder than it used to be, but I still care about the country, and not just my own particular ox. I also have some hope that things could change appreciably if Trump loses. I think there's a chance that his brand of MAGA politics begins to fade. That his grip on the GOP would weaken and that the party returns to being semi-normal political party. One that isn't based on a cult of personality, one that recognizes reality, that doesn't have a conspiracy for everything, that isn't fueled by grievances and anger.

Trump brings the worst out of his supporters and detractors alike, the sooner that he's gone, the sooner the tensions can start to ease, and maybe we could start arguing about what to do with social security or healthcare and not whether Haitians are eating pets or the size of Arnold Palmer's dong, and on and on....
While I do agree that if Trump were to lose. Maybe the MAGA’s will go away and a real candidate can be elected to the Republican Party and win it easily bringing something decent to the White House.
The reason people don’t talk about social security is because the medial and hard cores on both sides lap that shit up and it’s all anyone wants to talk about. If they would blow it off like anyone with common sense does, something good could probably happen in this country. Instead it’s just a non stop bashing on both sides.

Came in after Nixon imploded, Ford was a care taker. 1973 mideast war resulting in OPEC embargo tanked the economy worldwide. Gas was sold on even odd days depending on the last number of your license plate. The restaurant I worked at as a kid took sugar packs off the table due to a nation wide shortage.
US was staggering culturally already due to VietNam. The violence at Kent State opened up deep wounds between generations.
Carter was ahead of times in promoting energy efficiency and took grief for it.
The Iranian hostage crisis was resolved at the end of his term, due to a deal with Reagan/repubs, which further was used against his reputation.
Dude took a lot of grief for things out of his control.

Protecting workers from lazy HR reps is fascist now?

Forcing people to associate with people they don't want to associate with is very fascist. Especially when it comes things that are NOT like the color of one's skin, but a choice to act and dress a certain way, or demand special pronouns because you want to challenge societal norms and be a weirdo.

We're supposed to have freedom of association in this country.

No. You're wrong. Again.
