Why was cmac shooting threes tonight?

Can someone explain why Connor McCaffery was chucking threes in the first half, while Sandfort was sitting on the bench? I know he's a freshman. I know it was a big game, but he is calm and level-headed, and he is the best three point shooter we have, with Keegan sitting on the bench. The idea of bringing him in for three minutes, then sitting him for fifteen minutes, then bringing him in for a minute or so at the end of the half never allows him to get comfortable with his shot. Rinse and repeat in the second half. I believe we would have won, if Sandfort was in the last five minutes of the game.
