If you get there you should visit Babyn Yar. If you fly in you can take the shuttle to the train station and walk a bit to Khreshchatyk. Book an apartment at Olga Apartments in downtown, you can stay at a really nice place for under 100 dollars which is 4100 hr. It was about 5 to 1 back 15 years ago or so.
