Will Izzo be fined?

giphy.gif

His halftime comments and the refs' reaction go to the integrity of the game. Only the naive would believe his rants did not influence the game. That said, the turnovers and three-point shooting really killed Iowa.

fyi, the commissioner's address is kevinwarren@bigten.org.

He was over the top last night. He knew what he could get away with and he clearly influenced the refs.......if MSU isn't allowed to get away with that stuff it certainly could have changed the game.

I think our guys played really well under the circumstances.

I believe KU's Bill Self gets the same treatment. Very few coaches can influence the way a ref calls the game like those two do.

The better team won last nite. We could have and maybe should have stole one but we didn't. Look at the guys they had on the floor compared to the guys we did, on paper, not in the same league. All that said, Izzo is a not fun to watch with his whining but I say we beat them we play them again.

If he does get fined, I will be shocked. The same comments from any other coach would be made an issue.

Totally agree. Doesn't matter that the refs didn't hear him, he crossed the line with public comments on the officials.

I lost a ton of respect for Izzo last night. Dakich even pointed out that he was whining since the opening foul. If that is how you think you have to coach to win games, that is sad.

The better team won last night by the way they kicked our butts from the under 12 to.

Same ole Izzo, the cry baby drama Queen starts his antics from the opening tip until the refs start doing everything he wants (usually starting in second half).

When the other team is on offense on his end...He loves to stand next to the ref and blubber in his ear while the ref is trying to watch the game....essentially distract the ref from calling a foul on his team. If I was the ref I'd tell him to get is arse away while the game is going on or he'll give him a T.

Michigan st is one of those arenas that surrounds the opposing team with their students...so they can hover over them and yell their stupid stuff all game. Normally those are prime seats and not affordable to students...but I'm sure the students aren't paying for those.

I thought the refs actually did a pretty good job. Carstensen in the first 5 minutes of the game telling Izzo to shut up was exactly what needed to be done. Izzo was boing berserk in the first 5 minutes. Kriener got the same 2 touch fouls that Tillman got. I was under no illusion that Tillman would be in deep foul trouble in the second half, that's not what happens on the road. Not to make the game too simple, but Iowa wins if Wieskamp can hit a few shots. He made zero baskets and the game was tied with 5 minutes left. I'm sure no one feels worse than he does. Sometimes the ball doesn't go in.

Winston went off, which you knew would happen. Iowa hung in there and competed, but MSU made more plays down the stretch than Iowa did. So they won.

you had respect for him 24 hours ago???

That doesn't appear to the be the correct email address. Just doing a quick search Harbaugh was fined 10,000 for criticizes the refs similarly. And when Fran was suspended last year his comments weren't public. Unfortunately they were made public by someone that had recorded the enounter? I can't quite remember the details.

I used to like Izzo. Then my like for him dwindled every year until he went on a rant about Iowa firing Lick, and it become dislike. Now my dislike is growing every year.

The guy was losing his shit last night - no other way to describe it. It's embarrassing to watch.

I agree. The late turnovers hurt, too. Iowa was exhausted from having such a short bench. That said, Izzo is still an asshole and should be fined for his halftime comments. And he deserved at least one technical foul last night.

Liked the comment maybe earlier in this thread that the game seemed relatively well officiated which had Izzo on overdrive even for him. The ref rightfully telling him to shut up early in the game added fuel to the fire. Izzo's act has grown old for those of us who have watched basketball for a long time. The sideline crap is what it is but berating the officiating publicly at halftime went over the top. It should get addressed by the conference but it won't.

There going to make an exception and give him 3 challenge flags which automatically overturn the call. If it goes to OT he gets two more. If he loses a game he gets an extra scholarship and a waiver to allow ex-cons to fill that opening.

He defends every coach that gets canned. Even the shitty ones.

Doesn't matter,.. Coaches are contractually required to refrain from any public comments about officiating. Penalties can be imposed by the BIG10 conference...

True. But the post above suggested the refs were influenced by these comments in the second half. I doubt it.

MSU doesn't have the team to beat Iowa without a dirty game like that. They usually have enough stud players to make the plays needed to win even if the street ball game doesn't work.
MSU gutted out a win, they are NOT the better team.

You really think refs don't respect Izzo and MSUs history and they don't get tired of hearing him whine and "give in" a little.
I would say it would be very counter to the norm to NOT give in to some degree.

Won't matter, its Izzo.

As we found out again, it's tough to wins games when you give up 50+ points in a half.

I thought the refs were much better than expected also. Every time we play MSU I expect we will similar results as the infamous BTT 2013.

Still Izzo is a B#!$#@
