Will Izzo be fined?

Crickets from the league on this. Different rules for Izzo. Fran would probably be suspended.

He defends every coach that gets canned. Even the shitty ones.

Of course he does,.. As an example Izzo really liked Lick,.. Why do you think that was?,.. Izzo is an asshat and I'll be glad when he's gone..

True. But the post above suggested the refs were influenced by these comments in the second half. I doubt it.

All the refs are influenced by Izzo,... The independent thinking minority get pissed at his antics and occasionally push back, but the star struck majority fall all over themselves trying to ingratiate themselves someone that they perceive to be basketball royalty...

You really think refs don't respect Izzo and MSUs history and they don't get tired of hearing him whine and "give in" a little.
I would say it would be very counter to the norm to NOT give in to some degree.

I think refs do in fact favor Izzo.

I continue to think, however, that the refs Tuesday night did not know of Izzo’s halftime bitching in the second half, contrary to the earlier suggestion in this thread.

Oh, the nuance of it all.

Izzo is an asshat. He and MSU are perfect for each other.

Izzo completely disrespects his own players constantly. Covering up wrong doing by your own players as long as you get to act like a douche seems pretty codependent.

Watching him the other night made me ask myself, “In what other line of work would this behavior be acceptable?”. I think the answer is none.

He is a relic of the past. His behavior seemed normal 10 years ago. He is becoming the outlier for this crap. I’ll be happy when he is gone. He is a horrible human being.

Michigan was fined $10,000 for Harbaugh's criticism of officials after a game. Izzo criticized officials throughout the game.
NCAA needs to come up with a new rule that coaches can't stand and be in an officials ear. They can coach their team but this constant crying that Izzo does every game is beyond old. Even after DJ told him to shut up he is still crying.

How about enforcing the "coaches box" rule and give them T's for wandering out onto the court while the ball is in play?

I read an article recently - I forget where - about how what is established as the norm for basketball coaches to berate the refs constantly is not present in every sport. I’m not sure when it became so bad is basketball, but pretty much as long as I can remember. Problem seems to be that b-ball coaches have too much access to the refs. Baseball managers have to come out on field to argue, football coaches have to summon the head referee over. A baseball manager would be ejected after one minute of the routine Izzo does or after one Fran rant. But in basketball a ref is within 5 feet of them constantly. It’s mostly a college game problem, isn’t it? HS coaches aren’t near as bad, and NBA coaches don’t talk constantly to refs. But in college basketball the coaches are the rockstars. Somewhere along the way, the NCAA or conferences let it get out of hand, and now there’s no going back - the vast majority of college coaches are going to act to some extent like crybabies because that’s what’s tolerated, if not expected

Why should Izzo be fined? All but maybe 2-3 coaches in the Big 10 work the refs ALL game long. Fran works the refs just the same as Izzo. The reality of the conference is that the home team gets more calls than the visitor. Iowa gets more calls than the visitors at Carver just like MSU does at Breslin. Just have to play through it.

Only coaches that don’t appear to flipping their lid on the sidelines are Hoiberg/Gard/Holtman and that’s just because their personality is more reserved. But I’m sure they also work the refs in their own way.

I guess if there was a gripe it would be Izzo talking to press about it.
