Rachel Maddow spent an overly long segment today talking about Rand's big weekend. If he has any intention of reclaiming his Senate seat he must drop out immediately. He certainly isn't going to be President. There is a big meeting of Kentucky's top Republicans this weekend. If Rand wants in (And a lot of Republicans want him to preserve a seat in the Senate), he needs to make a case this weekend with the assembled leadership.
I know he portrays himself as the classic outsider, but, he's only relevant as a Senator. Failed Presidential contenders usually fade into the background quickly.

Sounds like Rand got the GOP to switch to a caucus instead of a primary, so he can run for both positions. Not that it really matters. At least for his Presidential bid.

Senator Rand Paul, averting what would have been a blow to his waning presidential hopes, engineered a vote by the Kentucky Republican Party on Saturday to change the state’s presidential nomination contest from a primary to a caucus.

By making the switch, the state party effectively allowed Mr. Paul, the state’s junior senator, to run both for re-election and for the presidency next year.

Rand Paul's ego trip will soon be deflated. His run for the
GOP Presidential nomination is a case of hubris-disease.
There is no known cure except defeat at the polls.
