I think they were trying to tell you to wear your long sleeve shirts or sweatshirts.

You do have one of those, don't you?

Taking my son to school this morning and look on my phone at the forecast.
It showed 46' and Cloudy every hour of the day from 9AM to sunset, and damned if that wasn't the case.
Weird day.
Felt a lot colder than 46' when I was picking him up.

Yeah, today the high was 60 degrees and that happened at one minute after midnight.

The coldest winter I ever lived through was NOT the winter I lived in Virginia Beach, but one winter I lived in Tallahassee.
I cannot discount this.

I lived through the Polar Vortex event when it hit Chicago 2 years ago when the air temperature hit -28, and the wind chill hit -60. But, it was a "dry cold". tic

Given that, I lived in Tallahassee during the winters of 1987-1989 and still think some of the coldest "feeling" temperatures I have ever encountered was when it was in the mid-20's in TLH and there was a lot of humidity coming off the Gulf. That was bone chilling, especially out at the airport where I was working and there would be a breeze blowing due to the openness of the area. I actually saw a dusting of snow in TLH one of the winters I lived there.

I don't know. Maybe I just needed a long sleeve sweatshirt back then. vbg

But when it gets above 85 we’re sweating.

If the Sun is shining and no wind, 70 up is hot for me. 85 is brutal ( Sweating is right!), Florida heat Damm near melts me. I am outside all winter and my body is acclimated.

About 0 and below, I will break out a face mask and put mitts on instead of gloves. Layering is easy to keep warm. Feet and head and core are the key. Balmy 16 outside right now.

We'll hear about wind chill come this weekend. Gonna have a couple days where the HIGH air temps will be roughly 0 degrees. Believe it's gonna be windy with that. Overnight lows -10 if not worse.

This is what we're getting in a few days...

"Oh, and that Arctic air....

Thursday night and Friday, the initial surge will drop us to near
wind chill advisory levels. In fact, wind chills may remain below
zero in the north 1/2 all day Friday. The next and main surge of
Arctic air arrives Saturday, as a strong high pressure of
1036-1040m will surge into the Plains. Another wave of low
pressure may move through on the nose of that reinforcing front.
Behind that system, the brunt of the cold is expected to move in,
and remain over the upper Midwest for a rather long duration.
Strong winds, potentially with blowing snow, and wind chills
reaching the -20 to -35 range are possible from Saturday night
through early in the week.

Some passing thoughts on this... This is real winter weather. Wind
will bring moving snow, and headlined wind chills daily. River
will rapidly form thick ice, and that`s been slow to happen this
winter. We already have deep local snow pack except the far south,
and with light snow almost a guarantee in any Arctic pattern, I
have high confidence that the second week of February will be the
coldest of the winter season."

gonna get cold...NWS

Took the dogs for a walk last night, it was around 20 or so with no wind at 10 pm. It was a beautiful night, no noise from cars or barking dogs, very peaceful. We haven’t had a lot of wind this winter around the Des Moines area so it’s been nice to get out at night to enjoy these calm nights. I know the dogs love it because they come home after a couple miles and crash hard. I soon follow their lead.

Lol. Those look like typical temperatures the first 3 weeks of the high school soccer season.

Iowa and soccer season don’t often occur in the same sentence.

I’ll be honest...I’m not even sure if you’re referring to the Fall or Spring.

Second morning in a row I have stayed in bed instead of running at 5 am because it’s in the upper 30s. Working from home this week so the devil on my shoulder convinces me to stay in bed and go running when the suns up.
