Wisconsin down 3 to Maryland 3:30 left

It's NOT the fact that Iowa lost. It's how they lost that pissed people off.

Up 7 with 44 seconds left and manage to lose is damn difficult to do, but Iowa somehow pulled it off.

Context.
your opponent makes a 3 and you miss FTs and then they make another 3?

that 7 point lead is suddenly down to 0.

it's sports. shit happens. that's why they call them upsets.

I'm sure you have a point, can't wait to find out what it is that everyone doesn't already know.

you're not too bright if you can't figure out my point
I don't know why you post Captain Obvious shit sometimes, that was MY point.

Maybe next post you can let us all know which direction to look if we want to see the sun rise.

agreed.

so was watching the 15-1 Vikings lose to Atlanta in the NFC Championship game.

The Vikings should have not lost that game, either.

But they did.

That was over 20 years ago. If folks still haven’t let that one go, I don’t know what to tell ya.

Maybe, just maybe, our fans overreacted to the Minny loss....

Some may have, but it wasn't the loss per se, it was how it happened. Poor play in the first half, poor strategy at the end of the game, blowing a 7-point lead with 45 seconds to play. Again, as CJF and Garza and Fran said, Iowa "gave that game away." THAT's the issue. Not all losses are created equal. Had Iowa played well for 40 minutes, had Iowa not beaten itself, then give all the credit to Minny and move on. And Minny does deserve credit, but without Iowa's generosity and mental mistakes, Minny's effort would have gone for naught. Again, it's how it happened, not simply that it did.

Me posting Captain Obvious stuff?

How about this Captain Obvious stuff that you posted on page 1?

* You stated people were pissed off in how Iowa lost to Minny. Duh!! But is anyone ever happy when Iowa loses, Mr Captain Obvious?

* You stated we blew a 7 point lead with 44 sec left. Duh, we all know that, Mr Captain Obvious.

Well, guess what? Iowa fans have not gotten over losses dating back 50 years.

It's pretty clear from people's posts that Iowa fans have not gotten over these losses:

* 50 years ago: Pembrook Burrows tipped in a shot to beat Iowa, 104-103, in the 2nd round of the 1970 NCAA Tournament.

* 40 years ago: Iowa lost in the 1980 Final 4 to Louisville (if Ronnie Lester does not get injured, many Iowa fans to this day claim Iowa wins the National Championship)

* 33 years ago: Iowa loses in the 1987 Elite 8 to UNLV (they blew an 18 point, 2nd half lead)

* 14 years ago: In 2006, #3 seed Iowa lost to #14 seed Northwestern State on a buzzer beater. I can still see Greg Brunner lying on the court with his hands over his face in disbelief.

Here's the deal. I have seen teams across many sports who have "given the game away." It happens.

You also wrote "had Iowa played well for 40 minutes." What the hell kind of expectation is that??? In every game there will be stretches when Iowa (OR ANY TEAM, for that matter) does not score for several minutes yet they still score enough in the end to win.

As fans, we sign up for the hope that our teams win but with the understanding that they might lose. Unfortunately, fans forget what they signed up for.

If you can't get through a bad loss (or any loss, for that matter) without melting down like a child, perhaps you should take up a new hobby like politics. Oh, that's right....

Bottom line: We're 7-2 with our two losses to teams with a combined 16-1 record. It's not like we've been beat by a team like Clown U. Gonzaga is by far the best team in the country and Minnesota is probably the hottest team in the B1G right now. We do need to turn this around now, however, because the second half of our schedule looks harder than the front end.

More than Wisconsin?

Davison is the spitting image of the psycho neighbor kid from Toy Story.

Sid!

Imagine what Michigan State fans are thinking RIGHT NOW

Minny sucks!!!! Right??? LOL

Maybe, just maybe, our fans overreacted to the Minny loss....
And we'll have a few more losses just like every other team but the trolls and unrealistic members on here will moan and groan just to have something to bitch about:(
With every loss we'll hear who should be playing more and who should be run out of town.

Didn't minnesota steal a victory out of jaws of defeat a couple years ago in the playoffs with last play score vs Saints? That should even things out, so time to move on.

thank you for a nice, refreshing, reasoned post.

I think the last men's college basketball team that went undefeated was the 1975-1976 Indiana team. 44 years ago.

And bad losses happen every year in very sport. Hell, 2 teams have somehow lost to the NY Jets this year! Unacceptable!!! ;)

If a fan can't handle the possibility of losing ONE GAME, he/she should take up knitting, because it's hard to lose when it comes to the sport of knitting.
