They are looking pretty good against Maryland. I thoroughly enjoyed watching their demise, now we nay have to watch out for them again. As much as them beating Maryland would help us, I would rather Wisconsin was down and out.

Agreed that Wisconsin is getting better. But, let's be real, Maryland looked disinterested in that 1st half and were practically sleep walking.

Wisconsin whipping Mary Land. To end the half, Bo Boroski somehow comes up with a double technical, when Diamond Stone tackles Wisconsin player Vito Brown out of bounds and then clearly shoves his head into the court. IMO, Stone should have been ejected, if there ever is a level 2 technical. Not sure why the Wisconsin player coming to Brown's defense got a technical, because he really did nothing, except maybe touch the tall bald official who was getting in his way.

Mary Land seems to get more bale out foul calls than any team in the B1G. I hope this end to the half doesn't give them momentum, after being dominated by Wisky in the first half

Exactly. Would love to hear the official's rationale for what constitutes a Technical 2. I guess you have to go Happy Gilmore on someone.

Official explanation--since Stone only rammed his head into the floor with an open hand, it was only a level 1 tech. Kind of hard to shove someone's head into the court with a closed hand:eek:

Refs definitely taking control of this game since Stone dribbled Brown's head. Very one-sided officiating so far with critical badger players drawing fouls.

MD player clearly should have been ejected. These officials will have some explaining to do.

Some of the most one-sided officiating I have seen this year in the second half, but Wisky hanging on so far.

BS Call.

To the OP's point - Iowa has been playing like Wisky so far this year. Tonight it looks like Wisky is playing like Wisky.

Wasn't worried about the Wisconsin game until now. They sure look tough tonight. It won't be an easy game for us. Might be the toughest game left on our schedule.

You know, as I watched that second half, it really wasn't so much Wisconsin as I really thought Maryland looked awful. They did not look like the second ranked team in the country.

When Maryland shoots a lot of jumpers, like they did tonight, they are not a good shooting team. And Trimble... I've seen him a lot this year, and can't say I'm the least bit impressed. As I said recently, Maryland is almost always less than the sum of its parts, and I don't see that changing. I still would love to see Iowa get another shot at them in the BTT.

BTW: Maryland beat Wisky in Madison on a shot at the buzzer, so I think you might be able to call the turtles impressed with the Badgers.

Great job by Wisconsin but this underscores that we have been underwhelming since that great opening start. I was not impressed with Maryland the night we played them. Same with Indiana. The attention to detail has not been there lately. Shooting and assists are down. We really need to pick it up but it's possible that we already peaked.

We haven't peaked. We lost to 2 good teams on their home floor. It happens. We just need to take care of business, like Maryland didn't. Indiana will get there butts handed to them tomorrow by MSU. We are looking pretty good right now but still 6 to go.

I am not buying it yet. Go back and look at some of our earlier performances. We were playing at a different level than we are now collectively. Shooting and assists are down. We also played with a razor sharp focus - see @ MSU as one example. See FTs & rebounding issues @ Indiana as a contrast.

Not saying we have been horrible but if we had played with that same mentality and execution collectively that we did earlier in the conference season we would have beaten either Maryland or Indiana. Gesell even noted that he thought they did not come ready to play or match Indiana's intensity. Might be a sign this team is tiring down the stretch.

It feels like a bad loss is coming.

This is a very strange spin on Mary Land playing a bad game (and Wisconsin playing an outstanding game). There are two teams playing in every game, both trying to win. In the B1G, there are 6 or 7 really good teams, and a few more that are dangerous, but very inconsistent. Iowa has been the most consistent team in the B1G so far this year. We have won all but 3 B1G games by double digits. Losing two close games to other top teams on their home court (both with incredible home court advantages) is nothing to be down about. Maybe the Hawks played even better a few games ago, but I am not sure why you would expect Iowa to be dominant against every team on its schedule. You might want to give the opponent a little more credit for how the Hawks play, instead of always assuming that the Hawks just didn't play good basketball.

I'm sure the IU loss has em hungry and humble.

We played two very good teams in two of the toughest arenas for a visiting team to come away with a victory. Yes, we didn't look great in those games, but very few teams would. Yet, both of them were close losses. I will be surprised if we don't kick some gopher ass tomorrow

I never want to look past an opponent and the Goofers have more talent than their record shows, but I really like the player interviews after IU. Uthoff was clearly pissed. Mike and Woody had already analyzed what they needed to do better. Late Sunday is a weird time for a game, but I look for a big game from the Hawks tomorrow.

Look I want to be wrong and probably am. I want nothing more than to see these guys rewarded with an out right or share of the title.
Many of you are right too that we cannot expect to be dominant every game.

For me it is just a feel that we are tiring, wearing down and/or feeling the pressure lately. I have seen more selfishness lately, missed details and general sloppiness at times that was not as pronounced when we got off to the great opening start to the B1G. We have been fortunate that the competition level has dropped to a degree in recent weeks. That's masked some of our underlying issues.

The title is there for the taking but the guys need to get back to the way they were playing earlier and the bench needs to bring energy and production they provided earlier in the conference season.

Gessel acknowledged they were not ready to play coming into Indiana(first time this year) and it showed with the toughness plays and details that were lacking; rebounding issues, missed FTs, stupid fouls, not getting on the floor for loose balls, missed layups. Is Indiana good at home? Sure but the fact of the matter is MSU is better than Indiana and they had not beaten anyone in the top 50 before us. We simply brought a C+/B- game.

Let's hope they get it going again for this stretch run!

Tougher than our second go around with Indiana? They did beat us/
I said "might be". It occurred to me that we play Indiana again. Wisconsin lost by 1 at Indiana and Wisconsin beat indiana in overtime at home so it reasons they're pretty similar.
