US have any option other than to withdraw forces from the area? I'm ok with Russia killing everyone in Syria whether they are pro-Assad or anti-Assad forces. I'm not ok with continuing on the path of being Russia's chump that Obama has been on since Crimea. Obama basically has two choices: 1) get out of Syria or 2) shoot down Russian bombers. I'm not sure #2 is the answer right now.

I'd like to know how exactly Putin is owning Syria? Airstrikes were never the problem. If all it took were airstrikes, we could have eliminated Assad's regime a long time ago. It's a far stickier situation that would likely require heavy ground support and a commitment that might last years.

It's just the Pavlovian wingnut reaction to anything Obama does. That the Russian criminal tyrant Putin is their latest heartthrob says about all you need to know about them. If Putin wants to "own" Syria the way we were forced to "own" Iraq by neocon chicken hawks, more power to him.

2. You first. You first need to line up to go over and be in another war that the rest of the American public doesn't want. Syria, Libya, Yemen, Iraq, Iran, Aghanistan… We can't be bombing everybody and putting troops into every nation.
