Yes, she should have just let them do whatever they wanted to her while she waited for the police to arrive.
Do you ever ask yourself how your idealogy got you to the point where you'll defend criminals vs an innocent person in a situation like this? Seriously think about what you are saying for a minute.

What is your plan when an armed thug barges into your house and rapes your wife and kids and beats you senseless?

They could have hidden or fled the house while waiting for police. I have a feeling these cowboy wanna be's are excited to have the chance to shoot someone (armed or not).

The police suggest you defend yourselves, the police normally get there too late.

Once again Trevor what is your plan when they kick the door in and begin to rape your wife and kids? Calling the police won't stop the assault.

I didn't see that part, I was commenting on the over zealous gun owners as a whole. I just hate to see needless deaths sny time, but I certainly do not side with the bad guys as others here have claimed.

So she should take the chance they were just going to steal all of their stuff? What if rape was on these thugs minds? I know it's harsh but one less scumbag living off the system or someday clogging up our prisons.

Perhaps you're just a little too quick to find fault in every self defense to see the facts.
We live in a much safer country than we did even 20 years ago but it is still a dangerous place. They have a special name for people like you that rely on the police to be their first line of protection.

That's your problem. If you really knew how many people around you were conceal carrying, you would never want to leave your home. Which again, is your problem.

What about when your kids friend comes to your house late night and you shoot him by accident?

That's much more likely to happen then you shooting a home invader but don't let reality get in the way of your delusions of grandeur, old man.

Exactly! If my dad had a gun, there was a much higher chance he would have shot ME sneaking in after curfew, not some intruder.

A buddy of mine was sleeping off some booze in college when someone kicked in his front door. My buddy tackled the guy and started punching him.

It turns out it was his drunk neighbor that thought it was HIS house. He lost his key.

Imagine if my buddy had a gun and started shooting like John Wayne??? The neighbor would have been dead.

Why would you even think about shooting someone who was invited to your home? I would assume the invited visitor doesn't shatter a window to gain entry or knocks an exterior door off it's hinges.

You anti 2nd amendment type come up with the most ridiculous examples.

The fact is that ~600 people a year die from accidental shootings a year in the US. About the same number as aspirin overdose ans a fraction of all NSAID pain killers. There's probably as many households with guns in the US as aspirin at any given time.
