Woman Wins $100,000 from Lottery. Bank won't cash the check.

Unless you live in Iowa, you have no idea some of the shit this Governor does.

You really think that some well to do white dude would be getting the same treatment as this lady?

Just look at Dim Kim's relationships with those radical white Ankeny parents and all the legislation she's pushed to help them.
JUST STOP. You're pathetic.

Back at ya.
Your comments here would be like me making remarks about specific political issues in AZ.

Our Governor will gladly accept immigrants from Afghanistan, but not Central and South America.

That's not an opinion, that's a fact

You forget I lived in Iowa when Reynolds was governor. Have you lived in Arizona?

You wouldn't recognize the 2017 version of Reynolds compared to the 2023 version.

And in 2017, Dim Kim wasn't auditioning for a veep slot.

Sure. That means a lot coming from you. Tell me when you get all the non-whites, people of color, LGBTQ, exported from the country. I mean...they are not real people
So ridiculous. You guys have to create the boogie man in order to cope with your own lives.

Yep, I'm coping...............
I’m not a white supremacist, no matter how badly you want to believe I am. I support the LGBTQ community no matter how badly you want to believe I don’t.

That’s the purpose of my initial post about playing the race card far too often, even when it doesn’t apply.

Are there white supremacists in the country? Most certainly. Are there bigots against the LGBTQ community in the country? Also most definitely.

But you wastes of breath want so badly to label as many people as you can as either one of those. Life is too short to deal with imbeciles like you. Peace out

Have a good one. I'm not a projectionist. I call it how I see it. And recently your posts have seemed a bit off. I'm glad to read that you aren't.

In this this day and age you’re telling me something like that isn’t a direct deposit from IA Lottery??

It’s a safe bet there is either prior account activity or a money laundering/fraud typology that was triggered that warrants further review. Why it’s taking 10 days is anybody’s guess, but I’m guessing that there’s a reason for it. The branch employee cannot just pick up the phone and tell Chase’s BSA/Fraud departments and tell them to release the funds and unlock the customer
That's the standard hold banks put on big checks.

What did they put her though?

I'm sorry I don't see the outrage here.
I understand the bank waiting for the check to clear before making the funds available to her, but canceling her debit card, freezing her checking account, and threatening to close her accounts punished her for simply depositing a check she won. Why do you think this is okay?

Chase canceled her debit card, froze her checking account and sent her an email on March 8 saying that “to protect against potential fraud, we restricted your account and may close it soon

Mine did that when they noticed fraudulent activity. So it didn't go on further and they weren't on the hook.

You just quoted the article and haven't said why the bank protecting itself and her from fraud is bad. I think it's great they were proactive and put an end to it before wrecking her credit or losing money or anything else.

Why is that a bad thing? Why should the bank just leave a suspect fraud account open and leave them on the hook for the money. Shut it down figure it out and then make the correct decision.

I've lived month to month in the past. If my debit card was canceled and my checking account was frozen I would have been up shit creek at the time. How is she supposed to pay for things when she doesn't have access to the funds already in her account?

Hope and pray

How is she supposed to pay for things if it was fraud and the bank just let someone drain the account?

I don't get why you think a bank should take on all the risk of possible fraud on the chance it might not. And I'd be pissed as a consumer if they just looked the other way while someone had accessed my account.

Withholding access to the funds from the check prevents fraud, but preventing her from using the money already in her account is wrong. How are the funds already in her account at risk from depositing the check even if that check was fraudulent?

I don't get why you don't think the bank could check all of this out quickly? Once it was made public they sure moved fast.

This is a major **** up on the bank's part and they are rightfully being exposed for it.

The bank had confirmative evidence where the check came from. Claiming "fraud" concerns is a bit of a reach.
I don't expect chase in NYC to read the Des Moines register that morning, find a story on a lotter winner, see a name and confirm its the same person as someone just sits at a computer OK every check as it instantly comes in.

That's stupid to suggest they had confiramtive evidence.

And you and the others are just shitting on big banks cause you don't like them not with any real reason. The bank followed its procedures to protect them and the account holder. Which is what we want them to do and you guys are all mad about it.

What does this have to do with a newspaper?

Someone from the Chase branch in DM can easily call the Lottery headquarters, and collect verification information within minutes.
