Women’s basketball is on the rise. A new pro league aims to take advantage.

Move those goalpost Riley. Much El oh El.
Classic. You claim the game is unwatchable, I show you that it has been growing in viewership for years and you then claim I'm "moving the goalposts".

You are the unequivocal champion of dumbassery on these boards. No one has your ability to post stupid shit, get owned, and then pivot to something even dumber. You're in a class all your own.

None of that you just posted changes the fact that it's an unprofitable league that been around a long ass time.

There is no doubt in my mind that the NBA could sell its ownership stake in the WNBA for more than they have invested in.

That makes it a worthwhile investment to me.

On a related note, I watched about half of the Indiana/Seattle game last night. The Fever got blown out again to fall to 1-8, but there were some encouraging signs. Caitlin’s teammates seem to be getting better at catching her passes. The first few games they were constantly bouncing off their hands because they weren’t prepared to catch them. But last night Clark had 9 assists, including a couple of really impressive feeds to NaLyssa Smith and another one to Kelsey Mitchell.

The Fever still can’t play defense or make layups to save their lives, so that needs to change. But the most disappointing thing was that the officials are still letting opposing teams assault Clark at will. Fever coach Christy Sides drew a technical foul for protesting one particular play where Clark got hacked by two defenders and nothing was called.

Watching WNBA teams defend Clark is like watching Laimbeer, Mahorn, and Rodman maul Jordan in the mid/late 80s.

1. WNBA is catching on and growing.
2. A competitive league to draw from it is ridiculous
3. Expansion is the possible exploitation (patience is required)
4. Another group of star rookies with some drawing power is on the horizon (not comparing with the 2024 group).
5. Caitlin will continue as a celebrity as long as she is nurtured in that role, as Jordan was.
6. The coach, team and league must acquiesce to Caitlin's role as the league's face and archetype.

Watched the 3 on 3 during All Star festivities. Boring as hell. A new league of 5x5 with competent officials and eliminate the overly physical play and I’m interested.

2. A competitive league to draw from it is ridiculous
The new league will be in the offseason and is fully supported by the league office.
3. Expansion is the possible exploitation (patience is required)
The league is expanding to 13 teams next year (Golden State) and 14 teams in 2026 (Toronto).
4. Another group of star rookies with some drawing power is on the horizon (not comparing with the 2024 group).
I’m not sure how much impact Bueckers and Van Lith are going to have. They’re very good but don’t seem to have the same star power as Clark or Reese. HVL seemed to take a step backward by transferring to LSU and then transferring again at the end of the season. She might have been better off staying at Louisville.

JuJu Watkins is going to be a star but if I’m not mistaken she’s not eligible for the draft until 2027 unless the WNBA changes their rules.
